Also opening on Saturday night is "Recognize: Snapshots of Los Angeles Bike Riders" at Flor y Canto, a documentation featuring photos and interviews with some of the Workers, Youth, and Free Spirits that peddle daily throughout the city.

NELA Bikes! is a month-long series of events being planned in Northeast LA to celebrate bike culture and inspire people to get out of their cars and ride. It’s being organized in conjunction with Bike Summer 2005, a city wide bicycle extravaganza that comes to Los Angeles this June after being hosted by seven other cities around the US and Canada. All events are free and open to everyone.

As we head into a future of global warming and diminishing supplies of cheap oil, it’s high time to create and support sustainable transportation in our car crazy city. NELA Bikes! seeks to inspire and promote solutions, and have fun along the way.
