DESCRIPTION:
World Social Forum Project 2004

Three students at Santa Monica High School have

been working diligently in the community these past

few months to rally support and raise money for

their World Social Forum Project. Student Kesha

Ram learned of the World Social Forum, taking place

in Mumbai this upcoming January, at the Bioneers

conference in San Rafael, and captured the interest

of Molly Parent, Amara Russell, and Samohi Faculty

Member Michelle Kenney. Their goal is to attend

the Forum, which is a global event for indigenous

peoples, agricultural workers, and social activists

alike, to document the issues of environmental and

social injustice (e.g. water rights, Monsanto,

WTO), and bring back what they learn to the

community via multimedia presentations. If you

appreciate what they're doing, you can support them

by viewing their presentation at our next Green

Party meeting and learning about what's going on

around the world! These students want to educate

us by transporting the words and stories of those

eperiencing the injustice firsthand. In addition,

as with most good causes, they need funding to keep

their project alive, so please bring what you can

to donate to the girls. Remember, these young

people are our future, so please show them your

support!

Doors open 7pm

Program 7:30-9pm
