DON'T LEAVE OUR TROOPS BETWEEN IRAQ AND A HARD PLACE!

A Day of Outreach Between the Peace Community and U.S. Troops.

Camp Pendleton, Oceanside Harbor Gate

For months, the public has been misled into believing that the best way to display concern for the safety and well-being of U.S. soldiers is to offer support for the mission in Iraq. On Saturday September 27, the peace community will set the record straight. Join Veterans for Peace as they lead concerned citizens working from within the Southern California peace community on an outreach designed to communicate to the world that the best way to support the safety of U.S. troops is to bring them home now and remove them from harm's way.

As the Bush Administration has already cut veteran's benefits, has spread the military too thin, has encouraged the world to "bring it on," and as they now direct attention toward the 2004 election, it is time to send a message that the peace community is concerned that U.S. troops are between Iraq and a hard place. Join us for a peaceful day of communication and understanding. (Violent speech or action is both discouraged and unwelcome).

We are meeting in the free parking area at 11:00 am behind the Days Inn Hotel in Oceanside. The address is 1501 Carmelo Drive Oceanside, CA 92054.

Directions to Oceanside harbor parking area:

From the 5 FWY take the Camp Pendleton exit. If you are coming from north of Oceanside you will veer to the right and take a right onto Harbor Drive (coming from south of Ocenside take Harbor Drive towards the ocean and follow the rest of these directions) This will take you to the harbor where you will veer to the left. After turning left you will see signs for free parking to your left. You will drive through a small tunnel into the parking area where you should see those gathering for the walk to the main gate. From the parking area you can see the back of the Days Inn which we used as a landmark for the map. We will walk from here to the main gate and then return along the same route but will continue onto the beach area for speakers, music and a social gathering. It is a short walk back to the parking area when you feel like heading back home.

We will be carpooling to Camp Pendleton from the South Coast Plaza parking

lot at Anton and Bristol in Costa Mesa at 9am Saturday. Call Tom for questions

at 714-964-2162.
