September 3rd ? Gubernatorial Debate Event, 7:30-9:30 pm

2809 Pico. Blvd., Santa Monica, Westside Greens office

Come watch this historic event together and stay to share your opinions about it.

Come hear Green candidate Peter Miguel Camejo in California's first 2003 gubernatorial debate!

California's first recall gubernatorial debate will occur at 4pm (airs 4-6pm on KTLA in LA and check C-SPAN), on Wednesday, September 3rd. Unfortunately, this will come at a time when many people will be at work. To make this debate accessible to more people, the Westside Greens will be taping and reshowing it later that evening, when people will be home from work.

Come watch this historic event together and stay to share your opinions about it. The debate will be shown at 7:30 sharp. It runs two hours long. Plus there will be 10-minute interviews afterwards with each candidate. We will show Camejo's after we show the debate.

Participating in this historic debate, in addition to Camejo, will be independent candidate Arianna Huffington, Democrat Cruz Bustamante and Republicans Tom McClintock and Peter Ueberroth. Gas-guzzling, Hummer-driving Arnold Schwarzenegger has decided not to participate. http://www.bayarea.com/mld/cctimes/news/special_packages/davis_recall/6661661.htm

Reflecting its significance, not only will this debate be broadcast statewide, it also will be shown nationally on C-SPAN.

This marks the first time that a California Green gubernatorial candidate will participate in a televised debate that includes both Democratic and Republican contenders. Gray Davis refused to debate Camejo in 2002. http://www.kxtv.com/storyfull.asp?id=2573

Davis also refused to appear in a televised debate against 1998 Green gubernatorial candidate Dan Hamburg, after Hamburg beat Davis and Republican Dan Lundgren at an untelevised forum (at the annual conference of Southwest Voter Registration Project.) http://www.feinstein.org/changelinks/hamburggreenslatinofav.html
