The question that WCW has yet to answer is just how they plan to move forward from purely symbolic permitted mass protest to a strategy of escalating and coordinated mass civil disobdience. Rhetorical flourishes, paid full page ads in the NY Times or e-letters from Jed (or Sean Penn) to the activist community aren't going to make this happen. Bush will not step down the day after tommorow, or the day after that.

That the Maoist RCP remains committed to utilizing WCW as an 'intermediate' recruiting vehicle for their party is no great revelation. Their earlier efforts in NION, the October 22 Coalition, Refuse and Resist are all examples of this organizing strategy at work. But this does not currently reflect the orientation of the vast majority of those who participate in WCW activities - nor is it likely to in the foreseeable future - despite the RCP's best efforts. My hunch is that the RCP is in for a rude surprise as the liberal organizations and personalities they've been courting via WCW decamp en masse to participate in the midterm electoral charade several weeks from now. But then again, they just may be content to walk off with the expanded mailing lists and latest funding resources that WCW organizing has made possible while paying lip service to pursuing a insurrectionary strategy.

Indeed the real political outcome of this warmed over 'pop front straetgy' may be to cement WCW's position on the right flank of UFPJ this year- and just behind the Progressive Democrats of America. Avakian and Hayden ..together again.

For all their anti-democratic internal processes and suspect ties to the Democrats, at least UFPJ has tried to launch a coordinated series of direct actions and civil disobdience actions against pro war politicans across the country during past several weeks.

yes, but

In 200 or more of those locations, the "mass protest" will consists of 1 or 2 people.

Ban the barricades, comrades.

What an absolute joke. The RCP, all 75 of them left, are using the rabble in the same way the Left has used it for years.

Agitate, agitate, instigate, get the rabble wound up, and then back away and escape before the cops move in.

Why does anyone still fall for this shit?

The RCP cares noting about Bush. It cares nothing about the rabble. It cares only about its cult leader, Bob Avakian. The rabble is a tool.

But go ahead, protest away. No one pays attention anymore anyway.

The world yawns.
