Our State THIS SATURDAY in
GLENDALE
SUPPORT
Glendale Day Laborers and SHUT DOWN Save Our State!
|
Our homegrown Minutemen types (the
ones with the neo-Nazi sidekicks) will be trying to shut down the Day
Labor Center in Glendale
this Saturday, December 10,
7:30-11:00 a.m. They want to stop people from finding work at
the San Fernando Road Temporary Skill Workers Day Labor Center, 5040 San Fernando Rd., sponsored
by Catholic Charities.
It's International Human Rights
Day.
This is the
showdown. Save Our State canceled their last protest in San
Bernardino for lack of interest. Their numbers are dwindling, but
the diehards remain.
Bring
big signs, noisemakers, and loud voices, and protest this assault on the
fundamental right to work and to live. No human is
illegal!

When: This Saturday,
December 10, 7:30-11:00 a.m. Where: Home Depot, 5040 San Fernando
Rd., Glendale

There's irony in the fact that racists are plotting to assault basic human rights on International Human Rights week end.
My opinions only and only my opinions.

Fred, for the love of sweet baby buddah layin in the manger being carried accross the border, why don't YOU give them a job?
It is illegal, according the the laws of the country YOU live in, for them to get a job. Lawlessness is no excuse for how you feel. Work to change those laws if you do not like them instead of advocating illegal activity.

support the influx of cheap labor which makes the rich richer and erodes the benefits made by the union.
I worked a lumbar mill making enough to support a family and now they are illegals; no health insurance, no work comp, no paid holidays and paying 1/2 the salary.

The customers visiting the Glendale Day Labor Center, do so under the false assumption, they are not violating any laws. They are led to believe the center is a legal source of general labor workers, who are eligible for employment, in the USA.
The employer assumes all risk involved with hiring at a day labor site.
The employer is responsible for verifying the employment eligibility of employees, by processing the USDOJ-INS FORM I-9 and the IRS FORM W-4, at time of hire.
The employer must pay a fair wage to the employee, provide breaks, meals, restrooms, as needed, for the employee.
Employers must verify employee eligibility.
The employer must pay worker's compensation insurance for the injured employee, or on his/her homeowners' policy.
The employer faces arrest, trial, fines and prison time, if found by federal authorities, to be hiring, transporting, or harboring an illegal alien.
I don't care about eligible employees and legal immigrants, seeking work at the day labor sites, but the employer should be informed of their responsibility to separate them, and hire eligible workers -- of any race.
So, rather than stand there with signs, protesting the presence of the SOS, and shutting down the DLC, how about helping to inform the employers, about the laws, so they can come back later or go to a temporary agency, and properly hire a worker?
Let's all pull together to make America a better place for our families to live in, today, tomorrow, and beyond.
Copy this the I-9 form, W-4 form and the flyers seen on SOS. Help me out. Bring at least 20 copies each. Give them to the employers.
The illegals, will have to find employment elsewhere, or go home for the holidays.

In response to educating employers about hiring:
1. Everyone hates a bureaucracy (its just common sense)
Why would anyone want to undergo countless hours of paperwork and forms for a temporary 1 day worker. If I need help fixing my roof (a 1 day job) I'm not going to wait 3 months for the proper paperwork to be approved. Plus, no American is going to do hard work for the amount I can pay, not even the homeless people that say "Will work for food" believe me I've tried. What SOS proposes does not make common sense. And you can not apply this to companies because long term workers need legal documents to be hired because businesses actually do fill out the bureaucratic paperwork needed for workers and worker benefits. The only place where undocumented workers are "taking over" is in low skill, high turnover, temporary jobs which is definitly not my first choice for work as an American. Understand now?

but the sentence is $250,000, five years in prison, forfieture of property, loss of business, surrender of rights, but you do get quality time with Bubba.
Do the math.
Employers must complete Section 2 by examining evidence of identity and employment eligibility within three (3) business days of the date employment begins. If employees are authorized to work, but are unable to present the required document(s) within three business days, they must present a receipt for the application of the document(s) within three business days and the actual document(s) within ninety (90) days. However, if employers hire individuals for duration of less than three business days, Section 2 must be completed at the time employment begins. Employers must record: 1) document title; 2) issuing authority; 3) document number, 4) expiration date, if any; and 5) the date employment begins. Employers must sign and date the certification. Employees must present original documents. Employers may, but are not required to, photocopy the document(s) presented. These photocopies may only be used for the verification process and must be retained with the I-9. However, employers are still responsible for completing the I-9.

In order to stop day laborers heres what you have to do: Fill out form I-9245B between the hours of 3 to 5pm eastern time on the west coast unless its daylight saving hours therewhich file form I-9245A-2 if laborer is male and name ends in a-g for g-z fill out form 25b-2, if female wait 5 days from initial contact spin 3 times and count to 100 then fill out form 297-2b and attach schedule d listing all contacts that you have had with people on days ending with the letter y. Thanks. Afterwards wait 2 weeks to fill out 3-6 months worth of paperwork with subsequent surveys to follow.

of agencies that would be happy to send a laborer for one day. They are legal, have benfits, a reasonable wage and the agency provides work comp benefits.

I'm sure some of those guys have fake ID cards and fake Social Security cards. If people started demanding them for the I-9, the day laborers would probably find out that one of them has a source for fake IDs, and they'd buy a set.
