Boycott arab american day festival

by SCSCC Monday, Sep. 24, 2012 at 1:13 PM

Stop complicity in the Syrian genocide

Southern California Syrian Coordination Committee (SCSCC) would like you to join us in boycotting what so called “Arab American Day Festival”. Ahmad Alam, the owner of this show and his cronies are integral part of the criminal regime in Syria. For the last eighteen months, they have shown full support of criminal acts inflected on the Syrian people in many ways such as twisting facts, attacking the integrity of the Revolution, personally attacking Arabs living in the USA who are supporting the Revolution in an ugly way, and continue to pursue the destruction of Syria as a whole.

Today, we are witnessing a great popular movement in Syria which is asking for freedom, dignity, and social justice. Syrians have endured the unspeakable for the last 42 years while waiting for change. Syrians cannot and will not forget the massacres in Hama, Jesr Alshougour, Homs, Aleppo, and other part of Syria especially in the eighties when over 70,000 were murdered and over 30,000 are still missing. In the last eighteen months, the Syrian people have decided to make their move and call for an end to: 41 years of oppression, corruption, skewed distribution of wealth, dictatorship, and an emergency law that has for forty one year’s justified all kinds of atrocities, massacres and random arrests and disappearance of innocent people at the hands of this Syrian military regime called “Assad family”.

The situation in Syria is in dire need of our support because it dignifies the human struggle indeed. As Syrian Americans from across the United States, we condemn the egregious human rights violations committed by the Assad Regime against fellow Syrians. We are in full support of the political and the human rights of the citizens of Syria. We support their demand for equality, dignity, freedom, civil liberties, and democracy. Despite sectarian provocations by the Assad Regime, all Syrians – including Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen, Muslims, and Christians – are united against the Assad regime and have maintained a message of national unity and solidarity. The Assad regime is responsible for the indiscriminate killing by the security apparatus and Al-Shabeeha (armed thugs) of unarmed demonstrators and army personnel who refuse to shoot their fellow citizens.

We as Syrians reject the Assad regime’s cynical attempts to blame the killing and bloodshed on criminal groups, carry a foreign agenda, and affiliated with certain militant Islamic groups. The regime’s assertions are proven false by numerous eyewitness accounts supported by video evidence. We are calling on all Arab countries and all people around the world to stand in solidarity with the Syrian people and their Revolution and put an end to the human suffering.

Please be part of our ongoing efforts to put an end to this repression.

Revolution statistics on the human toll as of 9/18/2012 as a result of criminal acts by “Assad Regime”, please note that these are very conservative numbers:

Refugees in Lebanon: +70,522
