Is this what the local food movement is about? $125 tasting parties?
Gross.
Get your priorities straight.
All I smell here is a "food movement" that will relegate the poor to eating the shit of the rich. It's not a food movement as much as a bowel movement.
What will happen is that the rich will eat locally grown organic food, while the poor are stuck with GMO products, toxic products, and other biologically engineered prodcuts that may not be safe. And these products will be created by Monsanto and other companies that enrich the stock portfolios of the rich, who will definitely NOT eat the products they're creating. No... they'll be eating locally grown organic food.
The localvore movement will be nothing until it's like the animal rights movement.
It needs to identify the fund managers who invest in GMOs, in pushing for deregulation, and against bans on GMOs. Then it needs to ostracise and verbally attack these people, and help dismantle the corporations.
It needs to support labor laws for farmworkers, like overtime pay and healthcare.
