This week Brazil announced two important things:
1) the creation of a permanent international forum exclusive to the Latin-American countries (USA and Canada are out);
2) the support Argentina in the conflict with England; to Brazil the islands Malvinas are part of the Argentinean territory.
The consequences of these two decisions are evident: with the increase of the tension between Argentina and England the new forum can approve the limitation of the traffic of English airplanes and boats in the South Atlantic. In case the USA support England, it is open to possibility of prohibition of installation of American military bases of Mexico to Magalhães' Strait.
The articulador of these decisions was Celso Amorim, the Brazilian Chancellor. Under his administration ahead of Itamaraty Brazil created G-20 and Unasul (Union of the South American Nations), it consolidated BRIC, it obtained significant victories on the USA in WTO (World Trade Organization) and it formalized important military agreements with Russia, China and France.
Brazil stopped being back yard of the USA and it is stimulating all the other nations of the hemisphere to do the same. This is a necessary and desirable consequence of the end of the Cold War.
