Brazilian authorities affirmed yesterday that there is still field for negotiation with Iran to solve the impasse provoked by the decision of the country of increasing the degree of enrichment of his uranium. USA, France and Russia already signal the adoption of sanctions against the country.
The Brazilian Minister of the External Relationships, Celso Amorim, emphasized that the sanctions won't make Iran to change of position. "It is necessary that there is a direct dialogue. Brazil is ready to help." Amorim suggested that there is bad will against the Iranian government, even after president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to have affirmed that it would not "see problems" in sending the uranium to be enriched at other countries. "I think the one what Ahmadinejad spoke is going to the encounter from what proposed IAEA, but it is necessary an effort to check. Unless, for other reasons, think it is better to apply sanctions."
The Brazilian Defense Minister, Nelson Jobim, also criticized the "radicalization" of the theme and it signaled that Brazil can maintain the support to Iran. "We are not against anybody. We have the tradition of solving the things in the dialogue."
As report of the French newspaper Le Monde, published Monday, European diplomats claim that the position of Brazil has been hindering the imposition of new sanctions to Iran for UN. The Brazilian position is similar to the one of China, that has veto power in Safety's Council of UN.
