[UCLA] Pro-Test for Science, a vocal group of vivisectors, have become ACTIVISTS promoting violence against. animals. They have their own public relations group, Speaking of Research, and work in tandem with the Big Pharma front group, Americans for Medical Progress (AMP). The AMP's Board of Directors represent industry giants such as Pfizer and Charles River.
In December, Speaking of Research/Pro-Test promoted a February 16 animal rights forum in order to advance the public discourse about vivisection. The only relevant facts are these:
-it was controlled by vivisectors;
-they banned activists from the event, even protesters;
-the audience was to be predominantly vivisectors and their sympathizers; and,
-even though there would be anti-viv scientists on the panel, they virtually ensured there would be no anti-viv questions.
Negotiation Is Over is here to provide the public exposure that Pro-Test so desperately needs and backup for our activists on the ground.
I only learned about the activists being banned from this public discussion a few days ago. A day or two ago it was closed to the public.
And last night, Paul Browne told an associate:
Paul Browne: "Debbie the meeting was only ever open to staff and students at UCLA who booked tickets, hardly surprising since it is a debate organized for UCLA by the UCLA groups Bruins for Animals and Pro-Test for Science."
They must have changed their minds about "public discourse" because the post announcing this event has been deleted.
We have to unite to end their reign of terror.

In response to the recently posted article concerning the upcoming panel discussion at UCLA between pro and anti-vivisection people. Some of the "facts" quoted are incorrect. No contest that Pro-Test for Science are sponsored by big pharma and deserve nothing but contempt from any compassionate human being BUT this discussion is not "controlled" by the vivisectors and most certainly the panelist attending who are anti-vivisection are not controlled by anyone.
The event was closed to the public for a couple of reasons a) the cost of making it a public event was prohibitive to Bruins for Animals and they do not have the kind of money Pro-Test have access to and b) there were personal threats made to the panel participants (both sides!) and in lieu of UCLA shutting it down altogether the event was changed to ticketed UCLA students only and guests of both sides.
This event has been very carefully designed to make it as fair as possible to both sides. Both sides were allotted the same amount of tickets. The questions were also ensured to be split 50/50 so that each side could submit equal amounts of questions.
This event has been months in the planning and someone has to speak with the other side to start tearing down the wall of the stalemate we are in. It is true that Pro-Test for Science have become very active in LA promoting animal experiments and the AR community has to rise to meet this challenge. The people involved in planning this event have worked extremely hard to ensure this discussion is fair, as much as a David v. Goliath can be. Whatever happens or whatever does or does not come out of it, this is a much needed and long awaited forum of discussion.
