Peace Group Demands Shutdown of Israeli Embassy

by Stop the War Coalition-Philippines Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at 12:34 AM

‘SEVER TIES WITH WAR CRIMINALS’ SAYS GROUP 13 January 2008: Carrying a giant eviction order and a mock padlock, the broad anti-war group, Stop the War Coalition-Philippines, went to the Israeli embassy today to symbolically order its closure.

Peace Group Demands ...
a-dead-child.jpg, image/jpeg, 369x304

The group sought to express its opposition to Israel’s ongoing aggression in Gaza which has already killed more than 800 people, a third of which are children.

(Note: according to the latest report there are now 1,300 Palestinians killed, including 410 children and 100 women. Another 5,300 people were wounded. The statistics bureau reported 4,100 homes totally destroyed and 17,000 others damaged. Israel lost 10 soldiers and three civilians. - Note and photos added by the poster)

The coalition had earlier called for the Philippine government to sever its ties with Israel and to expel the Israel ambassador to express its rejection of Israel’s aggression in Gaza.

For three weeks, Israeli bombs and rockets have pounded the Gaza strip placing almost 1.5 million fearing for their lives and have shunned initiatives by the international community to put an end to the attacks.

“We want to drive home the point that no country and no people should tolerate Israel’s barbarity,” said Atty Corazon Fabros, one of the group’s spokespersons.

“Israel is guilty of war crimes and we should not have diplomatic relations with criminals,” she added. “The world has to sanction and isolate Israel otherwise its mass murder of the Palestinians will continue.”

Israel, the group says, is guilty of violations of international law such as collective punishment, targeting of civilians, and disproportionate military response.

“The embassy should only be re-opened and diplomatic ties should only be restored once Israel complies with international law,” said Fabros.

Stop the War Coalition-Philippines is a coalition of over 50 organizations and networks.#

Philippine government should sever ties with Israel

We at Stop the War Coalition Philippines, a broad coalition of civil society organizations, social movements, labor unions, political parties, human rights, women’s, students, religious and other organizations, strongly condemn Israel’s war crimes against the people of Gaza and the international community.

These latest attacks are not only disproportionate, they are completely unjustifiable.

At the root of the continuing tragedy in the Middle East is the continuing illegal occupation of Palestine by Israel. That Israel is able to continue this occupation and that it is able to bomb and kill indiscriminately without restraint points to the incapacity of the international community, including the United Nations and the world’s governments, to uphold peace and justice. It is this unwillingness to act that will ensure that more blood and tears will flow from this escalating war.

We in the Philippines must help stop this war not only because thousands of Filipino migrant workers are caught in the crossfire but because we have a stake in creating a world with peace and justice.

We at the Stop the War Campaign demand that Israel should immediately end its war crimes in Gaza and end the occupation of Palestine.

We demand that the United States immediately stops arming and funding Israel’s war.

We call on the international community, the United Nations and all responsible international government and civil society organizations, to stop Israel from continuing its attacks and to support a just resolution to the crisis.

We demand that the Philippine government begins the process of severing all diplomatic ties with Israel until it complies with international law and ends the occupation of Palestine. At the same time, we also call for immediate relief and evacuation plans for Filipino workers in the region. We demand more jobs for Filipinos at home so that they will not be forced to seek employment in outlaw states.

As our elected representatives, our government should take a stand in favor of international law and justice, summon the Israeli ambassador to protest, and expressly condemn Israel for its actions.

We demand that Manila and other government units revoke their “sister city” ties with Israeli cities.

We call on our parliamentarians and diplomats to likewise denounce Israel’s actions.

In solidarity with the Palestinian, as well as Israeli people opposed to war, we call on trade unions, universities, cultural organizations, political parties, and other social movements and civil society groups to be part of a global boycott and sanctions campaign against Israel.#

top photo "gaza victim" is from Iraq 2003

by FYI Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at 9:20 AM

No need to use the photo from the US invasion of Iraq 2003. There are plenty of recent photos from Gaza of dead children. Use of this image undermines your article.

Who to confirm that these pixes are what they are claimed to be?

by free thinker Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at 10:48 AM

interesting stuff...ok...

chose the pix that provoke the most emotional reactions and in which anything written below can then be read-into these pix ..... but who can claim what they actually are ? Who are the people actually ? Did they know their picture would be distributed to look like this story Implies ?

who took the pix and who can claim authorship, photoship for the veracity, locality, date of these pix and who these people are or are they suppose to be 'representatives' of some group, which one ? Who can claim this is true and what the people in the pix agree to represent as themselves ?

How easy to take photos anywhere with cheap cameras or expensive ones and no one knows what to what use or what labels will be included in their images later...without a 'release' or agreement of the people in the photos 99% of the time, stolen images and USED for whatever purposes the thief-image-stealer choses ...later...w/o reporting back to the person who was depicted. No one acts very responsibly unless they are paid staff journalists...and those on this site obviously are Not !

it's so provocative to make a case that is intended to draw tears and anger ....but where is VERACITY ?

WHERE / how IS it possible to corroborate what is also being labled below the pix as true or actual or factual ?

where did the map for the years of Israeli-Palestinian lands emerge from ? no where ? why is there no source labeled to be checked out...deliberately avoided because it is not a trustworthy source ? or is it a stolen image used for purposes other than what it was drawn for ?

are we expected to BELIEVE WHATEVER IS POSTED HERE AS REAL AND AUTHENTIC when there is no possibility of corroboration, verification, authentication or author reliability ?

is this just another one of those PROPAGANDIZED sites where anyone can put up and write about any fake -fraudulent - story and make untrue - exaggerated - made-up - or slanted - statements.... and with any pix that can be used to IMPLY a story that is not so ?

what goes on here ?

is this Grim's [spelling correct here] Fairey Tales for Those Who Want THEIR Anger to Be Righteous and to Blame Someone Else for whatever they chose ?

let's get real..
for a change

I never been there, have you?

by PrionPartyy Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at 3:52 PM

Just because maps in western countries show "Israel" where Palestine used to be isn't proof that Zionists are murderous thieves of Palestinian lands.

Where is the veracity. Sure, we are told that Zionists crusaders created a jewish state on lands they murdered Palestinians to steal. But have you ever been there and seen Zionists building houses and pizza parlors on lands they murdered Palestinians to steal.

Maybe the alleged destruction of Palestinian lives and lifes never happend it is all a sham created by Muslims seeking sympathy. and aid from western fools. maybe Zionist crusaders are not murderous thieves of palestinian lands. Maybe Democraps and Republitrash have NOT sold out America's peace by supplying Zionist crusaders with the means to destroy palestinian lives and lifes.

Can't compare apples to oranges

by Becky Johnson Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at 7:54 PM

in the first map, the white areas show the concentrations of the early Zionists private land holdings.

In the last map, it shows the concentrations of the Arab/Palestinians in the same area, only in numbers four or five times the numbers shown in the 1946 map.

The map is deceptive since you should compare privately-owned Jewish property vs privately-owned Arab/Palestinian property. This map conflates the two and hence does a disservice to those who use it as a reference.

quibbling and soft soap

by conflation Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 at 6:16 AM

apples and oranges are not people driven into open air ghettos and subjected to periodic campaigns of terror by a full array of U.S. supplied and funded hardware.
That enterprise is beyond evil and must be ostracized and shunned by all who believe in justice.
All members of AIPAC need to be arrested as tried as war criminals as well as their enablers.
All dual citizens need to be removed from possitions of government and investigated for treason.

doesn't work that way

by PrionPartyy Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 at 9:48 AM

And if Zionists were to do to the USA what they did to palestinians, should maps not show Yellowstone national park and all other public lands as Zionist occupied American lands because yellowstone and other public lands are not the property of individual Americans?

Such a supposition sounds a bit dense.

blame details in C&lc for opinons ? huh?

by english major Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 at 3:34 PM

must we worry what is upper or lower case as if this actually verified some opinion or another ?

how much BLAMING and INSINUATING must we do to get some truth and veracity in these comments and notes?

Speak out openly, say that you dont believe what you read or ask what those clever implied comments mean.

let's again ask = where is the source of the map to verify who drew it ? and when ? and why how was it used originally ? and what it is worth?

who took photos and can claim they are representative of what is implied by them ?

why is bickering about typing used as the waste of space here instead of asking direct questions like =

What is your position on..... ?
Are you prejudiced in favor of whom?

Let's get it straight, out, and then like it or lump it.

who knows anyone who is so 'unprejudiced' and totally pure as to have an opinion not tainted by someone or other's propaganda ...or use an opinion to enhance their self-image by looking more PC & righteous than the next person ?

let's get some more factual information out here so this indy site becomes more than typed implied insults and suspicions..

please !!!!!

the question

by me again Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 at 4:29 PM

The thing I have trouble is the agenda held by posters who claim to represent the people of Palestine when the posts mimic an anti-zionist prospective.
While holding these people in veiled comtempt. And even if the points brought up are valid, the contempt displayes itself in subtile methods.
Like the intence rhetoric that presents a threatening assault on certain individuals that may be unresolved in opinion yet aligned to zionists propaganda. I think rather than calling all zionists as "crusaders' I prefer to call them the duped sheep of the Rothchilds.
And I was serious about this israeli and what besides posting on this forum; exactly what (s)he is doing on the ground in israel. To bring validity to these posts, most of which I agree with.
We had an individual names 'hex' who followed the same pattern but turned out to be a lunitic bent on assaulting the IMC under 'left' cover.
I am an American citizen who is paying taxes to israel and detests it.
That's all anyone needs to know about me but PP seems to pretend to be one of us yet lives in israel.
Still troubled.
And to see such concerned responces makes me even more *interested*.
