NO BAILOUT FOR CAPITALIST CROOKS-EPCC
Los Angeles- “Jail the greedy capitalist crooks, No to the federal bail-out to embezzlers, No burden to honest tax-payers!”
This is the stand of the Echo Park Community Coalition (EPCC in central Los Angeles as the Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and the City Council on Tuesday denounced the $700-billion rescue plan for the nation's financial institutions, saying the deal provides too much power to U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson.
The EPCC agrees with Mayor Villaraigosa and the City Council as they said that the plan lacks the proper checks and balances. In the article by LA Times he said:
"It's absolutely ludicrous that anybody would propose a $700-billion bailout that could go to more than a trillion dollars . . . without regulation, without accountability," Villaraigosa said at an event focused on attracting clean technology companies to Los Angeles. "The idea that we would do that without any strings attached boggles the mind."
While the EPCC stands with the Mayor on the issue about the federal bailout, the EPCC also criticized the city government for placing a huge burden to the community by increasing garbage fees and unbridled constructions along main thoroughfares like Beverly and Alvarado streets that clogged traffic.
“ The mayor promised no road constructions but know the Historic Filipinotown looks like a battlefield in Iraq. “ said Arturo P. Garcia, EPCC Community Coordinator.
