The AFP's intelligence report hyped in recent newspaper headlines tagging Ka Parago as supposedly planning to attack the Davao City Water District and Franklin Baker is purely rubbish. These two companies are, indeed, among the most despotic and anti-worker corporations in the region, but it would be ludicrous to say that the New People's Army is targetting them for attacks. To interpret the RCTU's (Revolutionary Council of Trade Unions) move to file a case against specific despotic firms and big businessmen before the revolutionary People's Court in the countryside in such a manner is outright distortion.
The RCTU in Southern Mindanao has cited the two companies, along with Lapanday and Dole Phils for its systematic union busting policies that have led to the termination of hundreds of its regular workers and leaders. And for being at the forefront of economic and political attacks against the workers, the Council has decided to lodge a formal complaint before the People's Court for acts tantamount to economic sabotage and other serious violations of workers' rights.
As workers face high inflation, rampant unemployment and wretched labor conditions, they do not have any recourse but to intensify the revolutionary workers movement and join the armed revolution. As the NPA wage successful tactical offensives against the fascist agents of the bankrupt Arroyo regime, more and more workers understand that their struggle for economic and political rights are complementary to the over-all struggle to oust the pro-capitalist US-Arroyo regime and overthrow the prevailing ruling system dominated by imperialism, feudalism and bureaucrat capitalism.
The RCTU is confident that unlike the judicial system of the reactionary state, the revolutionary People's Court shall find merit in the cases we have filed and that oppressed and exploited workers shall achieve genuine social justice.
