In a nutshell Mesa Community College Police Officers Lynn Bray and Turner attacked and arrested a suspicious looking man.
The man took the 5th and refused to answer their questions or even tell them his name.
The MCC police officers then called the Mesa Police Department to send over two officers in an attempt to strong arm the man into giving up his 5th Amendment rights. Officers A Spicer and J Behnke were the Mesa cops who responded. They quickly gave up and left. They were wimps compared to the mean spirited MCC cops that called them.
After two hours the man was told that he had done nothing wrong and released. He was told that if he told the cops his name he could return and use the library as if nothing had happened. He was told that if he refused to give his name he would be banned from all colleges in the Maricopa County Community College District.
The man refused to give his name and left.
A lawsuit was filed in Federal Court accusing the officers of false arrest, civil rights violations, armed robbery and aggravated assault.
Steve Corich the Director of the Mesa Community College Police Department wandered into the scene. Instead of telling his officers to stop violating the mans civil rights, he participated in the cop crime spree by trying to force the man to answer his questions when the man had said many times “I want my lawyer before I answer any of your questions”.
