VOTE NO on Prop 98, YES on Prop 99

by commentator Thursday, May. 22, 2008 at 7:19 PM

even homeowners will be distrssed if voters dont realize they have DEREGULATED our LA City Rent Control, that protects us from evictions, from arbitrary rent hikes, from owners eliminating seniors and fixed income families they 'dont like' as tenants.

TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS & NEIGHBORS !

to vote on June 3, because Prop 98 is intended to eliminate our LA City Rent Control safety net.

We are in danger of the greed of properties, even those who dont even own apartment houses, but who wrongly think they are safe from the disastrous effects when apt owners can do as they please - without care or concern for those who they already resent -and those who pay them current high rent prices now in LA. [and other Calfornia cities, SF, San Jose, etc.]

Because of the scarcity of apts available in LA, prices are already high.

Because the yearly increases with the current Rent Control has already accumulated in the last 5 years - and including this July's increase =

[6%+5%+4%+3%+3% = 21% = but cummulaltively is actually more like 25% when added up on each previous year's increase] .

Whose salaries or pensions or social security has kept up to this level of increases?

NO ONE can pay more without legally having increased money incomes. Or turning to crime or begging or borrowing on high interest credit cards !

Even Calif PERS pensions only gave a cost-of-living increases for the year just last month was 1.8%.

No where near the 6% increase of rents allowed even now With the Regulation that Exists Now.

Every person can vote and must do so, if only on this important to them and to us all - this ECONOMIC issue.

If we dont act responsibly and do our own individual duty...VOTE June 3, we fail.

Vote in any language, but vote to prevent the elimination of the only safety controls that now exist - even if the Rent Control Board is influenced by the Apt Owners Assn & Land holders - read Richer People - who want to Own More For Themselves Alone.

Vote NO on Proposition 98 that says it is about "eminent domain" but hidden below it is intended to eliminate all Rent Controls in all California cities, including LA. Vote YES on Prop. 99 which also protects home owners from eminent domain but does Not include the deception of 98.

Tell your friends, co-workers, neighbors, any & every where they live in all of California as this is a state-wide issue.

Tell those in Fresno, Modesto, Humbolt, San Diego, everywhere ! Help them vote for 'the people' s right to fair if high rents.

Remember Enron's story when deregulation was easy and everyone thought it was 'good" ? Do NOT LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN !

vote....

for all the Californians who cant vote yet....

Save us

all.
