Struggle for water is a daily struggle in many parts of the world. Children especially girls are not able to attend schools as they must travel long distance to fetch water for the family basic needs. There is also a corporate struggle for grab of water resources in the world for the corporate greed.

Youth Mission – A group of local youth are so motivated with the Struggle for water and lack of opportunities for education of girls in Africa that they have created a Youth Publishing group, called YouthInkwell.

At YouthInkwell Publishing, the source of this creative movement comes from the pens of children. A nonprofit 501(c) 3 publishing company established in 2005, YouthInkwell Publishing has been helping young writers and illustrators turn their work into professional books in hopes of encouraging the artists’ peers to become artistically inspired as well.

All profits from the kids’ books go toward the construction of water wells in Ethiopia and Uganda.

PEACE WITH JUSTICE CENTER OF THE POMONA VALLEY will also present THIRST.

Award Winning documentary examines one of the major human and environmental challenges of our times. It exposes the greed of multinational corporations and weakness of city, state and national governments buckling under the corporate pressure selling away our precious commodity, water.

The central story in “Thirst” takes place in Stockton, California. Mayor Gary Podesto proposes to give control of the water system to a consortium of global water corporations. He is surprised by the reaction as Stockton residents create a new grassroots coalition to demand a say in the decision. They are worried about price hikes, water quality, and layoffs of public employees, who tend to be women or people of color. African American water plant supervisor Michael McDonald sees democracy itself at stake in this battle.
