In the heating up mailer war in the 23rd Senate District Democratic primary, candidate Fran Pavley scored a clean sweep of Firefighter organizations endorsing her candidacy.
According to candidates' mailers, the Beverly Hills Fireman's Ass'n, the United Firefighters of Los Angeles County, the Los Angeles County Firefighter's Ass'n, the Oxnard Firefighter's Ass'n, the Santa Monica Firefighters, and the Ventura County Professional Firefighters Ass'n, all endorsed Pavley.
Candidate Lloyd Levine's mailer did not list any Firefighter groups endorsing his candidacy.
Observers credit Firefighters with more credibility in judging competence in election endorsements because firefighting doesn't involve right wing ideological issues as in police endorsements.
Pavley also received the endorsement of outgoing State Senator Sheila Kuehl. Pavley supports single payer health insurance. Levine does not challenge the right to profit of the insurance companies in health care.
