How Bush Destroyed the Dollar

by Paul Craig Roberts Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008 at 1:02 PM
mbatko@lycos.com

If the US government cannot balance its budget, the day when it can no longer borrow will see the government paying its bills by printing money like a third world banana republic. Inflation and more exchange rate depreciation will be the order of the day.

Depressflation

The process in which the devaluation of the currency ( prices rising ) is in *parallel and compounded* with the deflation on the value of goods and services as the rate of inflation overtakes the previous price rate during foreclosures and stock liquidation.

In other words, the labor, property and resources of America are getting cheeper while the prices we are forced to pay climb for these very same goods and services. Unfortunately, aside from these dark points, the real down side, for those of you unable to have secured their pensions, property and independence from the credit vampires, is that you folks are going to get screwed badly. No one is ‘adjusting’ your pay as the price of living and lending interests relating to consumer credit, climbs.

The depression of the 30’s was a devaluation of labor and resources. At that time, however, the majority of America grew their own food and owned their possessions free and clear and was far more capable of maintaining such items as automobiles and living quarters with local craftsmanship and material manufacturing With a currency backed by gold. Even if they had little actual cash, it had a constant purchase power and therefore was worth saving and even hoarding against the ravages of the local economy.

That’s gone.

We now have a complex infrastructure absolutely dependent upon the high tech maintenance which has been deliberately neglected to the point of systemic failure.

The idea is to ‘privatize’ [ sell off to the highest bidder; pennies on the dollar ] the land we once thought we had a unified stake in as well as the roads, bridges, power, water and everything else we paid to construct, as a common social structure.

Then the real economic yoke and raping will commence.

Well Deserved Retribution!

by Tony Browne Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008 at 12:26 AM

The American Govt has murdered, tortured, abused and stolen the land and resources from many millions of innocent people over the last 100 years and so now the Bush Regime and the financial crisis are just a sign,a small piece of some very well deserved retribution on the good ol'USA!
