The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center is presenting the second annual HoMosaic: A Queercore/ Homohop Festival. Featuring four of the most exciting LGBT rock, pop and hiphop artists, the one-night blowout will take place at the Dragonfly, one of L.A.’s hottest nightclubs, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17. Tickets are $15 in advance, available at the Center’s box office: www.lagaycenter.org/boxoffice or call 323-860-7300.
The evening will feature a DJ, free body painting and a number of other added attractions throughout the night. All proceeds from the event benefit the LA Gay & Lesbian Center's Homeless Youth Program.
Headliners Girl in a Coma hail from San Antonio. The rock trio has built a loyal nationwide fan base through years of touring. Following a gig at L.A.’s Knitting Factory in 2006, they met one of their idols, Joan Jett, who immediately signed the band to her own label, Blackheart Records. www.girlinacoma.com Sexy as sin bad-boy trans-man hiphopper Katastrophe’s lyrical skills merge with beats, creating a sonic otherworld that snags audiences in a dance-trance while teasing their heads with rhymes that snap, pop and educate. Recently named Producer of the Year by Out Music Awards (for his debut album, Let's Fuck, Then Talk About My Problems), Katastrophe also is featured in the film Pick Up The Mic, currently airing on Logo. www.katastropherap.com
All-female pop-punk super-freaks Maxitit serve up a high-energy show in an atmosphere of bubbles, smoke, killer lights, rock-and-roll pyrotechnics and backup hottie dancers The Maxichix. Maxitit is featured in the upcoming movie Manhattan Minutiae by Steve Becker. www.maxitit.com
Swivel is an L.A.-based electro-pop duo has blazed a trail through the L.A. scene, lighting up such classic haunts as the Viper Room, the Pig and Whistle and the Rainbow Room with their powerful harmonies, unforgettable hooks and a kinetic pulse that blurs the line between the electronic and the organic. http://www.myspace.com/introducingswivel
