by October Coalition Saturday, Sep. 01, 2007 at 8:08 PM

This update provides a quick glimpse into how the organizing for the October 19-21 mobilization against the IMF/World Bank annual meetings is going. Read it to find out about action plans, who has endorsed the mobilization till date, housing and convergence space, and more.

Tear Down the World Bank and IMF! Raise up the resistance!

Mobilization Update #1

8/31/2007

Global capitalism is facing unprecedented global resistance!

In Latin America – Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Venezuela are taking steps to leave the IMF and the World Bank.

In Africa – people in Ghana are rising up against water privatization.

In Asia – Indian social movements are planning to put the IMF, World Bank, and Asian Development Bank on trial before a people’s tribunal in New Delhi in October.

Here in the United States – twenty thousand people gathered for the first ever U.S. Social Forum, and public housing residents in Washington DC are fighting the sale of their buildings to private developers.

Be a part of these global movements – come to Washington, DC, from October 18-21 to confront the forces of global capitalism during the IMF/World Bank meetings!

* For more information on the mobilization: http://octoberrebellion.org

* Next meeting in DC to plan for the actions: Saturday 9/1/2007, Petworth Public Library, Georgia and Kansas Ave. NW, near Petworth Metro.

* Not in DC? Interested in mobilizing in your community? Join the next conference call: Sunday September 2, 7 pm ET.
