Libertarian Tom Rawles Supported Iraq War

by Tom Rawles Friday, Jul. 06, 2007 at 11:02 PM

Libertarian Tom Rawles supported the Iraqi war because it over threw and evil dictator.

In the Friday, June 29, 2007 Mesa edition of the Arizona Republic they published an article by Gary Nelson which said Tom Rawles, a Republican on the Mesa City Council who claims to be a Libertarian says he originally supported the Iraq war because it is OK to overthrow a country who has a evil dictator running it.

The article stated that Rawles said

Tom Rawles announced he no longer would stand during or recite the Pledge of Allegiance. It was a war protest, Rawles said. American involvement in Iraq has progressed from the justifiable disposition of an evil dictator to an unjust meddling in a sectarian civil war. Rawles wanted the troops out, and he still does. Now.

From my perspective and the Libertarian perspective, Libertarians do not support initiating force. While even if Saddam was a very evil person it was wrong for the American government to initiate force against him.
