6:45pm Anti-MinuteMen protest at UCLA going on Now

by LA-IMC Thursday, Feb. 08, 2007 at 2:44 AM

Tues. 6:45pm protest going now at UCLA in front of Moore Hall

About 75 to 100 people there now holding a rally. Protesters came out for event featuring Minutemen director Carl Bruan. The event was cancelled this morning by the organizers, a right wing student group that calls itself LOGIC. No reason was given for the cancellation.

what happened?

What happened? Was the event canceled? Moved? Good for you UCLA students if you shut it down without it even happening.

Blame SOS

by Truth B Told Friday, Feb. 09, 2007 at 3:27 AM

SOS only has themselves to blame. On their website forum, one of the members read here at IndyMedia that people were threatening to pull a Columbia-style protest, & proceeded to call & write UCLA to let them know this. But his own actions got the event cancelled! Now SOS members are trying to blame we, the opposition, claiming we are against free speech! Bullshit!

Good going SOS!

Keep gettin' those Minutemen events cancelled!

No more Nazi's at UCLA

by Mayan Son Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 at 2:40 AM

More right wingers at UCLA who want to let Nazis onto campus to recruit haters? The guys who run that logic club should find out what happened to Megan nicole Pargi. She was a student there until she really pissed off the raza. I bet she works at walmart now under a fake name.

L.O.G.I.C. is actually for open borders

by Arthur Lechtholz-Zey Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 at 4:01 AM

For the record, L.O.G.I.C. is not a right-wing group, which can easily be verified by simply reading the materials on our website.

As for immigration, all you so-called "pro-immigration" protesters have compromised what was going to be a very pro-immigration event.

If you don't believe me, check out the literature on (or linked-to from) our website:

Dr. Yaron Brook and even the moderator, Dr. Harry Binswanger are uncompromisingly for completely open borders and free immigration. If anything, this debate could have been construed as biased in the pro-immigration direction--although it was structured in a neutral format to which Carl Braun agreed.

So clearly, we do not endorse Carl Braun's ideas. Our only purpose in bringing him to UCLA was to show--through a fair and unbiased debate--that his ideas are wrong. We wanted to use reason and logic in an academic, scholarly debate to show why immigration is good for everyone and is an inalienable right. We could have convinced a great many people in the audience by showing that the strongest arguments against immigration (presented by Carl Braun) are flawed.

By protesting--or threatening to protest--all anybody has done is make the pro-immigration side look like a bunch of hooligans and terrorists, chanting empty slogans and relying on emotionalism. Whom did the protesters convince? Their own people? Do you think the legislatures of America care about yelling and chanting in front of Moore Hall? On the contrary, we were trying to shape the ideas of America's future legislators and intellectuals.

As Ayn Rand noted, revolutions begin in men's minds, not in the streets.

I hope that you all take something from this and if we put on another event, you take the time to do some research before you're so quick to protest or support protest. Maybe you'll find reason to sit respectfully in the audience and clap loudly for our speaker instead of practicing emotionalism and barbarism.

logic stands for greed and capitalism

by miho Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 at 4:47 PM

Hey white boy. Your club name logic stands for Liberty, objectivity,GREED, individiuality andCAPITALISM?????

OK heres the problem. Your club thinks capitalism and greed is best for the Raza? Dude thats how we got where we are in the first place. In case you havn't heard 99% of the Raza believe in collectivism, socialism and communism and anarchism. You think all I want is a good job and a big house for myself? Youre wrong. I want it all for my people!! And Im not sharing nothing with the white invaders. Sooner or later you'll all have to get back on your boats and go back to wherever names like yours got thought up. And take your capitalism with you. we dont need it, you guys are the ones who thought it up to keep the raza down.

Keep the Nazis out

by Sarah Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 at 5:06 PM

The SOS/MM types can't be allowed on campus without them feeling some sort of acceptance by the school. Just letting them talk to an audience is a bad idea since there will be young confused people some of which will no doubt listen to their hate.. David Duke could take off his sheet and sound reasonable for 15 minutes. Hes still a Nazi. A school campus is no place for a Nazi or other haters.

Um, care to explain yourself, "LOGIC?"

Um, care to explain yourself? (Bet you the individual never responds...)

How does people protesting and picketing against white supremacist scumbags some how "compromise" an alleged "pro-immigration" discussion?
