More Research on Iraq Mushroom Cloud

by Eric Stewart Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 at 11:56 PM

All manner of attempts to discredit this bit of news have arised and why not? This has the potential to be far more damaging to the Bush administration than anything that has occured on his watch yet - yes anything. We are talking about storing nuclear devices in a foreign country, in a war zone. For what?

What follow are items that have been entered as comments and emailed to me, personally, in relation to this event:

There could be several explanations for all of this. One is that the date was added or changed by GooTube to discredit, as was apparently done with the Pentagon images we got years ago (the date of September 12 was clearly visible on those images).

Another possible explanation is that there were two separate ammunitions dumps that caugh fire and were completely destroyed and these happened several months apart.

Still another is that it took FIVE MONTHS for news to reach us of the destruction of the Falcon base and in this case, as in the second, we see the efficiency and freedom of American news media.

Did I miss any possibilities?

Thanks for pointing this out. This information is key, somehow, I am sure. This post is getting attached to the video at my blog (as an added comment) which, at my end anyway, is still functioning.

Your name will be kept a secret.

Blogger note: I have personally uploaded lots of videos to that site and none accidentally came up with the wrong date. Can you say GooTube?

Another Disastrous Coverup

Apparently there have been some efforts to discredit the existence of small scale tactical nukes. They aren't new folks:

"The M-388 Davy Crockett was a tactical nuclear recoilless rifle projectile that was deployed by the United States during the Cold War. It was named after American soldier, Congressman and folk hero Davy Crockett (1786-1836)."

There is more here.

Someone wrote to me:

It was suggested in a post that the explosion in question could not have been a tactical nuke because there was no electro-magnetic pulse (EMP) to 'knock-out' the cameras filming this event. Well it should be remembered that the Enola Gay, the B-29, that dropped the bomb on Nagasaki wasn't knocked out of the air by EMP! You can verify this by doing a search on "nuclear emp" in Wikipedia. For small nuclear detonations, such as tactical nukes, the resultant EMP in magnitude enough to do this would have a very short range, 1/4 mile or less. The explosion we witnessed at Camp Falcon is entirely consistent with that of a tactical nuclear device with a 10 to 20 kiloton capacity.

The DoD isn't saying much about the incident. They're zipped tight about the incident. When all of this is considered, it does not bode well. As I said before, I hope this was not a tactical nuke, but I have my nagging doubts almost to certainty that it was.

Thank-you Eric for the post. The implications are of a magnitude that boggles the mind. If this was a tactical nuke, what was it doing in Bagdhad? Was it designed for a 'false flag' event to initiate hostilities with Iran? I hope there are enough Commanders in the field in Iraq that possess the sense to recognize the lunacy of this and the courage to blow the whistle. I'm not sure we're getting enough information out of this area. I wish we could get more.

There has been a steady campaign, as well, to paint this explosion as some other kind of very large bomb. Here I provide links to video evidence showing what happens when the largest non-nuclear bomb ever created goes off, the MOAB. You will notice that the MOAB, unlike the bomb that went off in Iraq, does not bathe the entire landscape in white light, which is a form of electromagnetic radiation (thermal radiation, or heat, is not the same color). As well, it does not mushroom, this the biggest non-nuclear device ever devised. The last link, below, shows the first ever H-bomb detonation, in which we see the brilliant flash first (clearly visible even in broad daylight), as in the Iraq videos.

The Iraqi video is useful in that it shows a much further angle, showing just how much of the city is bathed in light and the Marines' video is useful in that we see concern about fallout in regards to wind directions and that the sirens did not go off until the mushroom went off.

by Sheepdog Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006 at 10:12 AM

A nuclear weapon would simply NOT just 'cook off' because the detonation sequence has to be precise down to the micro second of the shaped charges involved with the compression of the fissionable material. The 'wildfire' teams ( I've worked with these engineers on the team ) use shaped charges to cut the intelligence of these sequencing circuits to disable the nuclear reaction. These things just don't catch fire and fission off. These would be explosions of very 'dirty' radiological debris, but no nuclear reaction.

And it looks to me as if the American forces just lost one of their major munitions storage sites,

Yeesh, I dunno

I understand your objection, but if you watch the Iraqi newsclip (go to t = 3:57)...

http://justanotherblowback.blogspot.com/2006/10/mushroom-cloud-erupts-at-u_18.html

...and compare it to old films of tactical nukes...

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=252288483406479718&q=%22Upshot-Knothole%22&hl=en

...the resemblance is totally creepy. I mean IDENTICAL in appearance, duration, etc. right down to the luminescent "smoke-ring."

It would take an awful lot of iron bombs (like, thousands of them) going off simultaneously to produce the same effect.

A MOAB is the only other thing that comes to mind, and its burst is quite different (revolting over-the-top propaganda in this next clip. Gawd, I'm glad I don't watch TV!)

Still not a nuclear signature IMO

by Sheepdog Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 at 12:00 PM

Pretty impressive but no where near the 20,000 foot high top-hat thermal event we have come to expect from even a gen 1 (25 kiloton ) event.

The blast(s) are impressive however. I'll go for the standard HE explanation.

-Devastating Attack Destroys US Falcon Base Striking A Severe Blow To US Forces

by Muhammad Abu Nasr | Free Arab Voice Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 at 1:53 PM

The US Falcon base, now described as burned out wasteland with no buildings was the scene of American helicopters dumping water on the site Wednesday to extinguish the last flames after resistance fighters managed to carry out a devastating attack that completely destroyed the American base.

In a dispatch posted at 4:15pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a source in the puppet Iraqi Defense Ministry had revealed that US forces and their Iraqi puppet allies would begin clearing and cleaning away the US Forward Base Falcon (as-Saqr Base) in Sukkaniya in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah on Wednesday.

The Defense Ministry source told Mafkarat al-Islam that the base would never return to the way it had been prior to the attack and that it was now a burned out wasteland with no buildings.

The source said that at the present time US helicopters were pouring water intensely on the remains of the arsenal to make sure that the last flames of the fire were finally extinguished. Earlier on Wednesday, US forces announced that the fires were still burning in the arsenal which the Americans admitted was the biggest in Iraq and which they acknowledged had been destroyed. The US military claimed that the devastating explosions that lasted for hours and lit up the skies over Baghdad caused no casualties.

Iraqi Resistance forces attacked the largest US weapons arsenal depot in the American General Headquarters in the south of Baghdad late Tuesday evening. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the arsenal, located in the as-Saqr Base in the south of Baghdad is the main supplier of equipment to the US forces. At the time of reporting, mountains of American arms and ammunition were continuing to explode in the sky in a huge fire unprecedented in Baghdads history.

CAMP FALCON: WHAT REALLY HAPPENED?

by Sarah Meyer

Index Research

Iraqis and Americans must read the information below. They must watch the two videos. And then they, and people over the world, must ask the U.S. government for a full and open explanation of what happened at Camp Falcon, Baghdad, on the 10th of October 2006.

Index has had the following report from an Iraqi concerning the explosions at As Saqr / Camp Falcon:

"The resistance attacked Camp Falcon south of Baghdad. This camp is considered as the most important munition camp. The explosions in the camp continued for three hours and was transmitted in direct on Al Jazeera. The resistance filmed the explosions and diffused them on the internet.

Iraq for ever of Fadhil Badrani translated the information on US Pentagon site which says that there were 5000 soldiers in this camp. But the Pentagon the same night declared that there were only 100 soldiers. This was evident is to hide the losses.

10.10.06. Iraqi Resistance Report. "The source admitted that dozens of Americans had been killed or wounded in the blasts that were still ripping the American arsenal apart. The source said that the US forces were unable to do anything to stop the massive inferno of flame and explosions that was lighting up the Baghdad sky like fireworks. Reuters reported the puppet regime's "Iraqiyah" television network as showing pictures of a huge fire lighting up the night sky."

11.10.06. Iraqi Resistance Report. "In a bulletin posted at 2am Makkah time before dawn Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported its correspondent in al-Habbaniyah as saying that the US military hospital at the massive American-occupied air base there had begun to receive dead and wounded personnel from the devastating Resistance rocket assault on the US Falcon arsenal in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah.

Just before midnight Tuesday, the Iraqi Resistance fired barrages of Katyusha and Grad rockets into the arsenal, the largest such facility in occupied Iraq, causing the ordnance to begin to explode."

Video. Tactical nuke explodes in Iraq?

"On October 11, 2006, a Tactical Nuclear Device appears to have exploded when fire broke out in an ammunition dump at Camp Falcon inside Iraq.

Video from live nightly newscast in Baghdad caught the detonation - miles away - with it's characteristic ENORMOUS blinding white flash, a rising core of fire then a small mushroom cloud!" 5.21 min. *THIS FILM HAS BEEN REMOVED BY GOOGLE (28.10.06). Another (black and white) film can be seen here. A further film (strong language), undated and unlabeled thus not confirmed "Camp Falcon" can be seen here.

All the above information, as well as a detailed description of Camp Falcon / al Sarq (originally published 7 June '06) has been published at US/UK BASES IN IRAQ, Part II. The South : Falcon-Al-Sarq, Tallil, Shaibah

NB: There was a further news story, citing names of the dead. This has not been included because of information concerning the publisher and the author.

The BRussells Tribunal received the following communication from depleted uranium (DU) researcher Dai Williams with regard to the recent (now deleted) 'google' video, as seen in Camp Falcon: What Really Happened.

"The good news is that the brilliant explosions in what appears to be an Al-Jazeera TV report are unlikely to be mini-nukes. They are very similar to the thermobaric bunker buster explosions seen on TV in Baghdad in March 2003 and in Beirut in August 2006.

The bad news is that in my reports these are suspected undepleted uranium warheads. They are not fission weapons. But they burn with an intense flash and fireball sometimes leaving a shower of burning shrapnel as white stars. These have been confused with white phosphorus. They are not. Phosphorus has too low density for the shrapnel trajectories seen in TV and camera shots. Also burning phosphorus leaves a massive trail of white smoke. Uranium burns with black smoke, almost invisible in night pictures.

Another clip on the same website is the most graphic image of a fairly small - perhaps 1000 lb - penetrator or thermobaric warhead that I have yet seen. It illustrates exactly the features listed above.

Then look at the first 20 seconds of the BBC TV news report from Lebanon on 4th August. I used stills from this in my report of 30 August.

I would expect any nuclear device to create far wider blast effects than shown in the still photographs of the camp. ...

The Falcon fire is a relevant connection which reminds us that some of these unconventional weapons are being used in several conflict zones now - Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan and in Gaza and the occupied territories."
