Reward Offered in Attempted ALF Arson Attack

by FBI Saturday, Sep. 09, 2006 at 5:29 PM
310 477-6565

REWARD OF $60,000 WILL BE GIVEN TO ANY PERSON WITH INFORMATION LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF THE PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR PLACING AND IGNITING AN IMPROVISED INCENDIARY DEVICE ON THE FRONT PORCH OF A RESIDENCE LOCATED IN THE 2400 BLOCK OF ROSCOMARE ROAD IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.

THE ANIMAL LIBERATION FRONT (ALF) HAS YET TO ADMIT ERROR IN ATTACK ON ELDERLY WOMAN – REWARD FOR INFORMATION MATCHED BY UCLA AND INCREASED TO $60,000

THIS DEVICE WAS PLACED ON THE PORCH OF AN ELDERLY RESIDENT OF THIS AREA. THE “ANIMAL LIBERATION FRONT” (ALF) HAS TAKEN CREDIT FOR THIS ACT BUT HAS YET TO ADMIT PLACING THE DEVICE AT THE WRONG RESIDENCE. IF THIS DEVICE HAD SUCCESSFULLY IGNITED, MANY INNOCENT LIVES COULD HAVE BEEN LOST.

On July 11, 2006, an animal rights website reported that the Animal Liberation Front or “ALF” claimed responsibility for an improvised incendiary device left at the home of a UCLA researcher in Bel Air, California on June 30, 2006. Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Arson Investigators on scene quickly determined the device was placed at the wrong house.

LAFD Arson investigators notified members of the Los Angeles Joint Terrorism Task Force who responded to the residence, which is inhabited by a 70 year old woman and a male tenant. The incendiary device used was similar to devices used by animal rights and environmental extremists. Investigation has determined that the intended residence is the frequent target of demonstrations by animal rights protestors. The recipient of the failed device was a neighbor of the intended target.

The improvised incendiary device failed to ignite when left at the victim’s door. It is the opinion of arson investigators that if the device had functioned properly, escape would have been difficult to impossible, given the hillside location of the house, possibly resulting in the death of the inhabitants of the residence.

A sample of the suspected flammable liquid was taken by the Los Angeles Fire Department Arson unit for analysis, while the device was sent to the FBI Laboratory for forensic analysis. The suspected flammable liquid was later determined to be consistent with gasoline. The ALF has yet to admit their potentially deadly error.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact the FBI or their local law enforcement agency before this incompetence continues. A reward of up to $30,000 is being offered by the FBI and the ATF for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for this crime. On Monday, August 28, UCLA officials announced that the university will match the reward, increasing the amount offered to $60,000.

The FBI can be reached 24 hours per day at

310 477-6565.

This investigation will be conducted by the FBI, Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Fire Department, the ATF, and other members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Didn't G. Charles Rasner do this?

This sounds like the MO of ALF member G. Charles Rasner.

Bet you it never happened

by Fredric L. Rice Saturday, Sep. 09, 2006 at 8:37 PM

Considering the fascist lies that this regime states daily, I'd expect that this never happened.
