The Global Class War

with

Jeff Faux - Co-Founder Economic Policy Institute and author of The Global Class War : How America's Bipartisan Elite Lost Our Future

Avis Jones-DeWeever, Director of Poverty, Education & Social Justice Programs at the Institute for Women's Policy Research

Jose Soler, Director Labor Education Center, Univ. of Massachusetts,Dartmouth

Girish Srinivasan, Research Unit for Political Economy, India

Patrick Craven, Spokesperson, Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU)

The 21st century has ushered in a new class war with the workers of the world in competition against each other lowering working and living standards. Each year workers in “developed” countries get poorer, whatever the party labels of their elected leadership, while workers in the poorer countries remain poor. Economies may develop, but for the workers, things fall apart. Trade, migration, health, welfare, pensions, minimum wages, prevailing wages – all are part of the slow motion onslaught in the race to the bottom on our standards of living under a bi-partisn onslaught which shows no signs of abating. What is to be done? Can workers in any one country fight their underdevelopment or must workers of the

world unite?
