Baby, poor sport Joe Lieberman is going to run as an independent and open a door for a Republican theft of that Senate seat. It's now 1 Dem, 1 Dino, and 1 Rep. You do the math, the entrenched party men would rather try again in 6 years with a Rep who will play along. Any "we the people" candidates will meet unimaginable resistance from the powers that be. The job is far from over but it is a great way to start!

If Lieberman will not step down...,

by Israel Sucks Friday, Aug. 11, 2006 at 3:26 AM

...and he will not because he is too important to the Jews who have kept him in power for the last 18 years, he may be a spoiler but not if enough of the anti war sentiment in the Republican camp see the error of their ways and if Democrats stay with the Party and Lamont.

Now can we get to work on that aipac whore known as Nancy Pelosi?

What about Cynthia McKinney's defeat?

by any conclusions? Friday, Aug. 11, 2006 at 2:47 PM

Its a mixed message form the American voters, isn't it?

By not nominating Lieberman, the Dems have just split their vote and lost another senate seat to the Republicans. They've also tossed away all of Lieberman's years of seniority and contacts in the Senate.

Split Which?

by googlie Friday, Aug. 11, 2006 at 7:01 PM

They have to do more polling to see which vote Joe is splitting. He might be splitting the Republican vote more than the Democrat. He originally got into office by running to the right of the liberal Republican incumbent. If the Republican candidate is weak, those votes may go to Lieberman.

According to Wikipedia, the opposition Republican candidate is not that "conservative": "Alan Schlesinger is the Republican candidate for Senator from Connecticut. His positions include guaranteed social security, planning for economic difficulties with the Medicare programs, Seasonal Employee visas to stem illegal immigration, eliminating the deficit by 2010, tax reform and bringing the troops in Iraq home soon"

Lamont isn't exactly a regular liberal either. He's a rich guy.
