Mt. Wilson, CA- August 4, 2006 - Coming through the mountains above Pasadena, three groups of nine or so high school students are finishing their 42 day bike ride cross country. Led by adults just out of college, the group, called Overland, has come 3,000 miles from Savannah, GA to capture imagination, stretch their abilities and strengthen the bonds with each other and their communities.
With a great level of respect and awareness, they harnessed some deep hopes to come this far. Their bright flags tell motorists to look, that here is a coherent group, and that they do have a story to tell, and that the baton is to be passed to an honorable generation.
They were riding the Angeles Crest Highway near Mt. Wilson at 9:30 this am, and should be at Venice Beach by nightfall.
