Woman indicted in case of evading bank rules
SCOTTSDALE - A Scottsdale woman was indicted on 11 counts of structuring, which involves breaking down a deposit to evade a bank's reporting requirement to the Internal Revenue Service. Banks must report deposits exceeding $10,000.
The U.S. District Attorney's Office alleges that 36-year-old Fengjuan (Lucy) Lu took money from her massage businesses and made structure deposits at a Bank of America, concealed $190,000 in cash in a safe in her home, and made structure deposits to her mother's bank account.
Lu's trial is set for Sept. 12.
