STUDENTS, SUPPORT THE GREAT AMERICAN MAY 1 BOYCOTT-STRIKE!

by Fil-Am Students for Justice Sunday, Apr. 30, 2006 at 11:39 PM
filamstudents4justice@yahoo.com

We urge all justice-loving students to support the May 1 Great Boycott-Strike and parallel protests across the globe and to build an anti-imperialist solidarity with the great immigrant, black liberation, working-class, antiwar and third-world liberation struggles.

STUDENTS, SUPPORT THE GREAT AMERICAN MAY 1 BOYCOTT-STRIKE!

We in the Coalition of Filipino-American Students for Justice and Peace urge all justice-loving students of the U.S., Latin America, the Philippines and in campuses elsewhere to support and extend our unshakeable solidarity with the May 1 Great Boycott-Strike and parallel protests across the globe.

No work, no school, no shopping, no buying, no business as usual!

To all students in schools and classrooms on May One, let us make a stand filled with courage and justice! Let us walk out, break through the fascist shackles and join the street marches in our thousands and tens of thousands!

It is fitting and timely that millions of Americans will launch the Great American Boycott-Strike for full immigrant rights for all on May 1, a date history has stamped in celebration of labor. In 1886, European-American immigrants in militant federations and unions first enshrined May 1 as Workers Day when on that day they staged a general strike to fight for a eight-hour working day.

Today, the mighty struggle to defend and liberate labor against the onslaughts of exploitation and repression carries on in forms varied but united in confronting the ravages of a common global system: the third world people’s struggle against the imperialist plunder, impoverishment, underdevelopment and subjugation of their homelands that push many of them to migrate, the gigantic movement against the imperialist, racist anti-immigrant bills and measures of the Bush regime, and the anti-labor capitalist attack on job security and quality through mass lay-offs, work for lower wages, corporate give-backs on fringe benefits, budget cutbacks on public schools, health-care and levees all in favor of Big Oil empire-building and superprofits in Afghanistan, Iraq and next, Iran.

Let May Day be a day to fuse, unite and build the great immigrant alliances, the black liberation movement, the militant working-class organizations, the critical student organizations, the antiwar coalitions and third-world liberation struggles into one invincible anti-imperialist force against their common imperialist adversary and towards the socially just society that the working people of America and the world deserve.

Full immigrant rights for all!

On with the anti-imperialist Great American May One Boycott-Strike!

Towards the anti-imperialist solidarity of the great immigrant, black liberation, working-class, student, antiwar and third-world liberation movements!
