Minuteman "Hunge Strike"

by Sebastien Monday, Feb. 13, 2006 at 4:49 PM

Plans for a Minuteman Hunger Strike on February 24, 2006 in Los Angeles

With recent attempts to rally support, the Minutemen are going on a 24 hour hunger strike. From the looks of their proponents, they could use a three day strike. In any case, they will be demonstrating in front of Senator Diane Feinstein's office. This would be a good opportunity to propose a peaceful demonstration.

Quoted from their sites:

Does this really need more publicity? They're playing the "victim" role here.

When they did this action in David Dreier office they got l.a. times and san Gabriel tribute to cover the story. they had about less than 10 show up. whereas on the same day the antiwar action got 1500 people on the street and hardly any media showed up.

I can't be sure but the Anti-war movement is kind of old news. It pretty much has run its course in the media. Just a thought.

run their course?

Interesting that you say the anti-war movement has run it's course yet they draw 100-150 times the numbers that the Minutemen draw.

Exactly. I'm right on with Howard Dean's call to denounce or renounce the Minuteman Project. Gotta wonder why you get mostly the same fixed number of participants again and again in these Minuteman events.

Not to worry you

My dietician, advised me against a hunger strike.

Oh, Cliff, the Minutemen and SOS, are frugal. We go to rallies within reach of our finances, and available time. We are barely a year old, compared to our opposition, but, we are growing. At almost every rally I've been to, I have been approached by new members. Even last Friday at Monahan's. Tonatzin Collective -- Thank you!

Faulty reasoning

"We are barely a year old, compared to our opposition,"

FYI, the organized opposition to the MM/SOS organized itself after you guye started your collective tantrum.

Also, almost everybody goes to rallies that are within their means otherwise they wouldn't go.

I do remember though that SOS was collecting gas money to bring in some people from Arizona for the second Baldwin Park rally.

run their course?

Anti-war protest are a dime a dozen. How many times can one cover a story that is the same story. Thats all I am suggesting. Now if you were to do something sensational and put a new spin on it, I am sure you will get the media attention you want.
