HOLD COLIN POWELL RESPONSIBLE
Ex-Bush administration official can’t just apologize — he has to help!
WHEN: Monday, October 17, 2005 at 7:30 PM
WHERE: Outside Pasadena Civic Auditorium, 300 W. Green St., Pasadena.
WHAT: Protest COLIN POWELL visit to Pasadena Former Secretary of State Colin Powell will be appearing at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium as a guest of the Distinguished Speaker Series of Southern California.
But for what distinction — his role in orchestrating the illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq based on lies?
Pasadena and Greater Los Angeles must demand answers from Powell for his roll in the Iraq War.
That he later left the administration and regretted the war does not make up for his helping to foist it on the world.
We must demand that Powell go beyond comfortably pulling his support for the war and start joining efforts to stop it! Gather to protest Powell’s visit at 7:30 p.m. at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, 300 W. Green St., Pasadena. ###

You need to be more forgiving and stop being so judgemental.
I'm offended by your intolerance, it's inappropriate.

If anybody has the right to judge former uncle tom #1 (replaced by auntie tom #2 Condi Rice) its the African American working class, and especially the Black middle class of Pasadena, who I'm sure will be there in droves with questions of their own.
For those that still don't get it, just get a copy of NEWSWEEK from February 17, 2003, which was the issue that featured Powell's mug and that bogus vile he held up at the U.N., with the booming title of "THE WAR PLAN" and the subtitle of "Judging Powell's Evidence." Then play the segment from Robert Greewald's "Uncovered: The War on Iraq" where Ray McGovern and others analyze Powell's presentation at the U.N. and rip his evidence to shreds. I've done a presentation for students using these two examples and they provide an excellent way to broach the issues of news media propaganda, performing in public spaces, and racial issues in the military. Powell embodies the notion of the duplicitous African American, who is used as a stooge by the white supremacist forces of the U.S. government to further their agenda while stupifying the complicit middle class.
Yesterday, the NBC poll which showed that bush's overall approval rating has dropped to 39% (and all you retarded matt coopers and half-stepping liberals can thank the anti-war movement), while his approval amongst African Americans has dropped to 2%. You can thank Powell's past errors and the exposed racism and classism of the bush administration during the Katrina tragedy for that.
Peace.

20051013_032015_101305_escobar1.gif, image/gif, 300x223 Pasadena Star Young Marine Mourned Pasadenan killed just a month after going to Iraq By Kimm Groshong, Staff Writer PASADENA -- Lance Cpl. Sergio Escobar, a 2004 Rose City High School graduate who shipped out to Iraq just last month, was killed by a roadside bomb in Ar Ramadi on Sunday. The Department of Defense statement said Escobar died "while conducting combat operations against enemy forces." Two of Escobar's best friends joined his parents and siblings at the family's Northwest Pasadena home on Wednesday. A poster board filled with pictures showed a happy youngster who often had a smile on his face. Those close to the 18-year-old Marine say Escobar will be remembered for his love of life and the military as well as his devotion to his family and friends. They described him as a "crazy guy" who always wanted to spend time with his friends but who also worked at The Foot Locker in high school to help support the family. And he took every chance to spoil his little sister and brother, Samantha and Junior. "He loved children," said Patricia Escobar, Sergio's mother. "One time he told me, ‘Mommy, your children have everything. But in this country (Iraq), the children have nothing. I want to go. I'll help a little bit.' " Marisol Farfan, one of Sergio's best friends, said Escobar was active in the ROTC program when he attended Pasadena High School. She said he enjoyed being on the rifle team and idolized the Gunnery Sergeant, a man named George Johnson who the students know as "Gunny." "He wanted to follow him," Farfan said. "He liked discipline." Escobar's father, Ricardo Ortiz, said Sergio wasn't afraid of anything and knew he wanted to join the Marines from early in high school. "Honestly, I didn't think I really wanted him to go over there. I didn't really want him to join the military at all. But it was something I wouldn't take away from him," he said. "He was really proud of his uniform." Escobar signed up for the Marines in September 2004 and was assigned to the 3rd Battalion of the 7th Marine Regiment based in Twentynine Palms. He left for Iraq on Sept. 10. Although he only attended Rose City High School for a short period of his senior year, Escobar was known as "a very respectful student," said Gary Roggenstein, the school's new principal. He said staff and faculty knew Escobar as "a quality character, the kind of student who comes back and visits and cares about others." To his friends, Escobar was someone who would always support them, through thick or thin. "He always thought about everybody else before himself," Farfan said. And he wanted his siblings to see him as a strong role model. Ortiz said six-year-old Samantha and two-year-old Junior watch Sergio's bootcamp graduation video all the time and like to pretend they're in the Marines. "I hope they get that our of their brains," he said, "especially now." Ortiz said, "I don't think (Sergio) would really want us to be crying. But it's hard." The family is finalizing details of the memorial services. Escobar is the second area resident to be killed in Iraq in the past five months. Lance Corporal Dion Whitley of Altadena was killed in June near Ramadi, 70 miles west of Baghdad. -- Kimm Groshong can be reached at (626) 578-6300, Ext. 4451, or by e-mail at kimm.groshong@sgvn.com

Man, let's mob that muthafuckin hall with signs and posters. Their will be lots of media.
Let's send this war pig back to DC.
"Iraq has weapons of mass destruction"- Colin Powell.
We need at least 100 activists to show up. Maybe up to 1,000.

Wow, those are some pretty wack sponsors (e.g. KABC neo-con radio, with that other uncle tom Larry Elder and others, and Condi's other employer, CHEVRON). Well, that's the elite power structure under the liberal veneer of Pasadena for you. But please come on out if you got something to say to Colin Puppet.

although he did get some help, this man was instrumental in promoting an action that led to the deaths of over 100,00 completely innocent (plus some not so innocent) people. I think we can judge.
There's no consequence for murder? Do you really think we should let him walk peacefully amongst us?
I'm offended by those who would let a criminal get away with murder. Do you forgive Hitler too?
Passive attitudes are why we've wound up in this horrible place. We can think about forgiving once he's paid his debt to humanity, until then he shouldn't be comfortable.

Clarification needs to be made. Colin Powell DOES NOT regret the war. That's not what he said. He is "glad." He regrets lying or being caught lying. You can get a transcript or search the web. He DOES NOT regret the war. http://thirdestatesundayreview.blogspot.com/2005/09/tv-review-barbara-and-colin-remake-way.html Is a review of his 20/20 performance: --- Powell's mea culpa is not only unconvincing, it's illogical. He's glad Saddam Hussein's gone. So why's he concerned with his "blot?" He's completely unconcerned that we're in a war that's based on lies. "I'm glad" he says. Sure he admits that he lied (by proxy -- it's others faults, you understand, nameless people in the intel community), but there's no moral concern. He's only worried about the slug line that now accompanies his name. The "blot." The tag 'liar, liar.' --- Powell is sorry for lying or for getting found out about lying he has never said he was sorry about the war. He has said he was glad.
