Caracas, Jul 12 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela´s Minister for Integration and Foreign Trade Gustavo Marquez said the Summit of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) will foster regional integration in the region.
Marquez assured that in the fourth edition of the ACS Summit, to be held in Panama from July 27 to 29, bilateral cooperation agreements with most of the assisting countries will be signed.
He said that Panama and Venezuela, who have established a strategic alliance, would strengthen the process for integration, mentioning in particular the project to build an oil pipeline through the Panama Canal, which will guarantee transfer of fuel from the Atlantic to the Pacific in an economic way.
He recognized that there is the possibility for the Petrocaribe initiative to be extended to other countries, because it is an unlimited open agreement, though CARICOM received priority at its beginning.
The Venezuelan official emphasized that the meeting of Puerto La Cruz, and the creation of the subsidiary PDVSA-Caribbean, will allow a logistic system of fuel distribution and commercialization.
