As Public broadcasting is politicized and laid on the chopping block by it's own sponsors (not it's audience), as medicinal marijuana and growing plants for personal use becomes a federal crime, and as home ownership rights have been weakened for the sake of big business allowing imminate domain rights to developers that want to build malls over peoples homes who have lived there for generations; all being mandates bought down by big government and the Supreme Court upon our individual states (the opposite of the Republican ideology which is supposed to focus on states rights, and smaller government). It brings to mind how the American colonies were being abused by England with unfair laws and tariffs.
By 1776 in reaction to the Stamp act imposed on the American Colonies by England, people said enough is enough! This flag called the "Gadsden Flag" was risen by revolutionaries (amongst many others by colonists) against England. In some ways it captures the spirit of American independence and free thinking better than old glory since it was realized in a very serendipitous way, and was closer to the root of revolutionary thinking in the states. It stood for American unity, states rights, and the right to choose one's own destiny.
Let's bring back some of that truly patriotic spirit which is getting lost in this neo conservative vision of what it means to be patriotic. Were going to raise this flag come the fourth of July. How about you?
