Havana, Jun 23 (Prensa Latina) Ney Lopes, President of the Latin American Parliament (PARLATINO) arrived in this capital Thursday on an official visit until Saturday.
"I hope this visit contributes to strengthening the links between PARLATINO and the Cuban People"s Power National Assembly (Parliament), in the sense of working towards Latin American integration," said Ney Lopes to Prensa Latina after his arrival at Havana"s Jose Marti International Airport.
Lopes, also a Brazilian deputy, said that Cuba is among the most active members of PARLATINO.
Talking about the integration process in the region, he considered that its progress is slow, and should be faster, as creation of regional blocks is the predominant tendency in the world, and Latin America cannot be an exception.
"We believe speed is in the hands of the Executive Power, while we do as much as possible to expedite it in PARLATINO," he pointed out.
Lopes will undertake a full program, including meetings with Cuban governmental officials, and visits to places of cultural and social interest.
"I am quite satisfied to be once again in Havana. I know the Cuban people, and its traditions," he concluded.
