Call for Revolutionary Anarchist Contingent M19

by a Wednesday, Mar. 16, 2005 at 11:51 PM

March 19, the 2 year anniversary of the US’s latest imperial affair, we call for a revolutionary anarchist contingent, which will march in the ANSWER demonstration at 12 noon, M19 at Hollywood and Vine.

Call for Revolutionary Anarchist Contingent M19

Globally: Across the globe the United States colonial machine has raped innumerable lands and cultures to pursue its ever expanding imperialist policies. Displaced people flee their lands in search of better lives in the first world, but upon arrival find themselves once again trapped under the system that on one front bombs lands and murders the innocent, and on another economically enslaves billions of us, while we are forced to bow to our landlords and bosses.

Locally: From its founding, Los Angeles has seen the hideous face of imperialism and the dangerous resistance that inevitably confronts it. From the Black Panthers notorious stand off with the LAPD to years of union struggles across the city, LA has always been a hotbed for revolutionary action.

As we see today, history is repeating itself. The leaders have the poor once again pinned against one another, struggling against an enemy that can neither be seen, nor defeated. This enemy, our leaders tell us, is the source of our problems, our misfortunes and our suffering. But we can see beyond this charade and have found the real enemy-the ruling class. We recognize that we must struggle against the ruling class, their agenda and their institutions but also build a new world whilst fighting the old. Many different names, shapes and faces, have taken on their programs, but most commonly today we know them as capitalism, imperialism and authoritarianism. We recognize that capitalism and imperialism are synonymous and must both be confronted simultaneously, while we build anti authoritarian alternatives to them.

M19 We must come together to publicly declare our opposition to our leaders and their corrupt agenda, and begin to organize in such a way that we can begin to win this struggle. This is why on March 19, the 2 year anniversary of the US’s latest imperial affair, we call for a revolutionary anarchist contingent, which will march in the ANSWER demonstration at 12 noon, M19 at Hollywood and Vine.

What to Bring: Banners, Flags, Anti Authoritarian Literature, Water, and Everyone you know.

Note: This is a call for a non-black bloc anarchist contingent for the March 19th ANSWER march in Hollywood. We do not wish to be a confrontational element at this march, for we do not believe that our regional movement has reached the point where we can be successful in that arena. Our goal at this march is to be educational and accessible. As anarchists we recognize that we cannot directly change the mechanisms of our current system through legal permitted marches alone, but we do believe that our presence at such marches are a vital way of recruiting, educating, and networking with others that may share similar values. This, in turn, will help us grow to the critical point in which we can be effective in forms of protest that go beyond the legal boundaries outlined by the state. We must think tactically and act accordingly.

What we believe in:

-A very clear rejection of capitalism, imperialism and feudalism; all trade agreements, institutions and governments that promote destructive globalization;

-We reject all forms and systems of domination and discrimination including, but not limited to, patriarchy, racism and religious fundamentalism of all creeds. We embrace the full dignity of all human beings.

-A confrontational attitude (for the right time and place), since we do not think that lobbying can have a major impact in such biased and undemocratic organizations, in which transnational capital is the only real policy-maker;

-A call to direct action and civil disobedience, support for social movements' struggles, advocating forms of resistance which maximize respect for life and oppressed peoples' rights, as well as the construction of local alternatives to global capitalism;

-An organizational philosophy based on decentralization and autonomy.

We are in solidarity with the Pasadena Anarchist Collective who are also organizing an event for March 19, and we encourage all those closer to Pasadena, or looking to engage in more interactive outreach, to attend the event. Details at http://www.pasadenaanarchy.org/

In solidarity with all those resisting capitalism and imperialism
