Notice to LA INDYMEDIA

by Jack Mehoffer Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at 1:34 PM

Hereby putting you on notice.

Since the pudden-head leftists that run this website has resorted to hidding my comments en masse, I have decided that I will no longer post under this moniker. From now on, I will post under many, many different monikers from many chained proxy servers. Additionally, I will alter my posting times and styles to make it exceedingly difficult for you to discern which comments are mine.

Consider yourselves warned.

you wing nut jingos suck

hey mehoffer...

by xispa Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at 7:25 PM

maybe if you'd stop posting knock-knock jokes and reported on some other meaningful topics regarding community, state and world issues, your posts would remain on the banner.

try blogging similar messages on a republi-con website and see what happens...

asshole.

Mehoffer was merely commenting on the articles.

by observer Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at 7:45 PM

Mehoffer was commenting on articles and engaging leftist trolls on this forum. Click on this link and count the number of posts Jack Mehoffer had hidden. Then compare that to the numbers hidden for Sheepdog, KPC, or more rational. Mehoffer has had a disproportionately large number of his comments hidden.

http://la.indymedia.org/news/?keyword=&author=&comments=yes&display=f&year=&month=&day=&medium=&category=0&sort=&limit=40

And of course, you won't find any comments hidden for the most worthless troll of all (Meyer London).

Hidden comments

by Sheepdog Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at 9:27 PM

Yup I've been hidden and it lets me know, when this happens, that perhaps I've gone too far.

Nah.

As for Mr. London, I don't recall him being too rad, in fact he is on the tame side of the commentary.

This site is not a blog

by or a chat room Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at 10:42 PM

This site is not a blog or a chat room forum.

The site is offered free at no cost to the user. The people running it have every right to moderate and to hide comments which in their judgment disrupt and distract from the purpose for which the site is operated.

Look Jack if you go to a conference and heckle people, the people running that conference will ask you to stop and if you don’t stop they have every right to throw you out.

Unlike a conference center building with doors and locks, no one can keep you off an open site like this one. So if your posts and comments are designed to distract and insult people then I think the IMC admin people are doing their job to hide such posts.

Try not being such a jerk and post respectful comments that support your position instead of one liners and insults and I think maybe they won’t get hidden so much.

And yes its no secret that this is a Left of center site. Just like its no secret that Fox News is right wing. Look at this way you most likely will never get on Fox News, but if you’re nice you can be on Indymedia when ever you want.

Oh how they do get upset.

by touchy leftys Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at 11:01 PM

We see leftists all the time crashing rightwing conventions and conferences, pieing people in the face, heckling, and protesting. But Saidy bar the door if it gets done to them.

Just a lil bit of your own medicine, lil Eichmanns.

...whadda crybaby...

well...

by Sheepdog Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at 3:17 AM

it's certainly better than to spew out vile and idiodic comments from the iron lung you reside in.

It's the content stupid

by IMC Moderator Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at 6:10 AM

It's the content, not the author, that causes posts to be hidden. So Jack changing his moniker and writing style won't matter.

For instance the article itself won't be hidden, but a comment containing personal attacks will

"As for Mr. London, I don't recall him being too rad, in fact he is on the tame side of the commentary."

Tame is right as in ineffectual, decidedly imasculated and creepy in a middleaged, still-lives-at-home-with-his-mother, never having had a girlfriend sorta way.

Hope that's not do much of a personal attack. Hopefully it's only on the level of a sheepdog personal affrontand not one worthy of banishment.

please strike

by Sheepdog Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at 6:43 AM

the comment I made in responce to fresca if you are deleting her comment. Thanks.

so when you hide another putrid glimps into fresca's 'soul'

by Sheepdog Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at 6:52 AM

I wont seem too harsh replying to nothing at all...

moratorium on personal attacks

by more rational Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at 8:39 AM

I 'm up for a moratorium. Discussing ideas is a lot more fun and productive. Because of the discussions I've had on IMC, I think I've managed to convince a couple right wingers to consider being independent of the Republican party. (In the real world, not online.)

See, that's some real progress. They don't hate this radical (much).

Radicals have been freeing Democrat minds for a while now... now we can work on the Republicans. Time for uprisings... at least for breakfast :-)

classic rock radio

by more rational Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at 8:54 AM

I've been listening to Arrow 93.1, and it's like nonstop Freedom Rock. Fuck Nixon! US out of Vietnam.

It's like the fantasy version of the early 70s I have. CCR, the Doobie Brothers, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Neil Young, Santana, Procol Harum. Where's the Bob Dylan?

I wasn't around for all that. I'm from the era of "Reagan Sucks!" US out of El Salvador, and the Contra Guns Drugs bullshoey.

Hell, I even missed that Clash record, and didn't get it until recently.. but the songs are eternal. What a work of art.

Sometimes, one must object.

by Sheepdog Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at 9:17 AM

Maybe I just can't allow the horrid psychopathic comments left unchallenged OR depend upon stated editorial policy.

Here it is:

* "Spam" posting; i.e., posts deliberately designed to disrupt the newswire and its basic ability to function. These are posts that are deemed to be devoid of content or analysis and appear to be published with the sole purpose of disruption.

* Posts the author has requested hidden.

* Posts that are obviously incorrect or misleading. This includes attempts to spread misinformation or to impersonate another individual.

* Posts that contain generalized and negative assertions about any race, nation, creed, class, ethnic group, sexual orientation, etc.

* Posts that advocate the mass physical elimination of a specific race, nation, creed, class, ethnic group, sexual orientation, etc, or that link to websites that advocate the same.

* Posts that treat the newswire as a personal "bulletin board" with non-political content directed at one or another newswire participants.

* Unreadable formats (i.e. photos posted as text).

* Posts titled "test".

* Duplicate posts (including duplicate photographs).

* Advertising of products or for-profit services.

* Pornography, excepting sexually explicit satire.

Within the above guidelines, we welcome a wide and varied community discussion.

Without adherence to these guidelines, it signals tacit acceptance. However, If you think I'm not voicing the feelings of anyone but the voices in my head in responding to the evil I've read on this site, I'm mistaken.

"a comment containing personal attacks will"

by Jack Mehoffer Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at 1:14 PM

I'm flattered that so many of you, my indymedia friends have chosen to express yourselves here in my self-righteous ego induced thread. I've thought about this, and I agree that LA IMC has been more than tolerant in it's dealing with trolls and dissenting opinions. In keeping with that, I've decided that you're right. The personal attacks are quite enough. Other than it being sort of fun to call the other guy a dolt, the ad hominems are pointless. I really like reading the insanity that perpetuates itself around here. Its entertaining. But maybe I go over the top sometimes in telling you all what fools I believe you to be. So I'm going to adopt a leftist principle and try to be more tolerant of you psychopathy from now on.

Have a nice day.

"It's like the fantasy version of the early 70s I have. CCR, the Doobie Brothers, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Neil Young, Santana, Procol Harum. Where's the Bob Dylan? "

And where is The Velvet Underground, the Stooges, and T-Rex (except for Get It On) for Christ's sake on classic rock?

Very sad indeed.

Go Over the Top Then

by brigg Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005 at 2:24 AM

>But maybe I go over the top sometimes in telling you all what fools I believe you to be.

Sheepdog and Meyer and KPC and the other left-wing/anarchists kooks ARE fools. No reason not to spit on them, belittle them, and other wise verbally abuse them. What else are they good for?

missed the point again

by Sheepdog Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005 at 3:12 AM

but thanks for giving me top billing.

I'm a real conservative and you are an apologist for a criminal class that feels itself above the law. Oh, and bite me.

Wow Sheepdog!

by shocked Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005 at 1:21 PM

Please explain what this means:

"I'm a real conservative..."

Not sure I get your drift. How are you a "real conservative" exactly?
