When one has to pay 50USD for something normally worth of 5USD is there something wrong with the pricing in monopoly. But, how about selling it for 20USD in cash to fix the salary?
NO BUSINESS LIKE FINNISH BUSINESS
FIN – The other day I was looking around how Finnish blue collars make their work. And they do make it, believe me.
The only thing is to know what attitude would a Texas Oil Farmer, Shopping Mall owner or Garage Owner share with Finnish blue collars.
In Finland - were socialists are sitting in a leading position - is business run as follows; from Monday until Friday one has to work for the business during business hours. During business hours some service pays let us say 5USD. Off business hours and weekends one has a multiple choice to pay for the service. You may either get billed and pay 50USD for the privilege of being billed, or you may pay in cash 20USD to the person in shift. That sounds fare you say. It is ok – what r u grumbling about? Nothing really, but I need to make sure you got the point, Texas. In USA terms and in Texas this would mean; from Mon till Fri you get oil at standard price cost, and off hours trace mean either ten times as high cost if you ask it to be billed, or our staff making off records trade. It is this hard to hire socialists to a private company in Finland – they need to make some money on their own too. To a Shopping Mall Owner it would mean his subordinates selling every weekend his products for fun of letting them make some money on Mall owner’s cost. Comrate, would this explain, why on most construct yards some material may lost even twice? And to every Garage Owner it simply means boys doing some service in you space just you to let them work for you. This is Socialist Finland’s understanding of socialist capitalism.
I do not envy this way of living. May I can soon work for some building site too. Hiring a Finnish worker is the best possibly thing you can do. Believe me. That’s why we don’t hire any capitalist.
Government gets, what belongs to the government, workers get what belongs to them and businesses just and just survive.
Myself came to live in Finland few years ago and I haven’t got any plans to move from here.

Sounds to me like the workers are stealing from the business owners. In America, these thieves would be fired and prosecuted. Theft is a criminal activity and should be punished. Unfortunately theft is a side effect of poverty. And poverty is a side effect of socialism. Nip it in the bud.

In America, if you do something during business hours, and it costs $5... if you get it off hours, it's a little more because the stores that are open late cost more... say $7. If you have to wake someone up, maybe they will charge you a lot.
More often, now, people here do not get paid extra for working outside of normal business hours. Especially blue collar workers. They have three shifts, and some work from around 6am to 3am... then another shift in the evening... and if business is busy, you work overnight.
Nobody gets any extra for working these odd hours.
Normally, companies give "overtime" when you work more than 8 hours a day, but at smaller companies, they often don't pay overtime unless you sue them for breaking the law. The people working at these factories usually make between $5 and $9 an hour, mostly around $8 in LA, from what I hear. They don't get free health care. They have to buy "insurance" or go to "county" which is low cost.
Also, some people who work cannot afford an apartment, and live in motels, or in their cars.
You really don't know how good you have it, Ivan.
Many Europeans come to America for the better weather, lower taxes, and friendlier business environment... but end up talking like Karl Marx after they have to deal with homeless people on a daily basis.

Mehoffer's obviously drunken the neoliberal koolade.
Capitalism requires unemployment. If the unemployment rate approaches zero, labor costs go up exponentially, and create spiralling inflation.
So, for capitalism to thrive, it maintains some level of unemployment that causes wage stability. Sometimes, you'll have serious unemployment, and that'll cause another problem, where there's not enough demand for products, because people are too poor to afford anything.
Socialism, or more accurately, a large welfare state, doesn't cause poverty. It only causes stagnation in business startups, this can make it hard for people to move up or down the classes.
That's not the same as poverty. Poverty is what's experienced by people who are excluded from capitalism, by being unemployed or owning no capital.

Here we have a guy from Finland telling you, more rational, that the workers basically have to steal from the business owners in order to survive, and you tell him he doesn't know how good he has it? Isn't Finland supposed to be you resounding enigma of how a socialist state is supposed to work?? I remember just a few weeks ago when you where proclaiming Finland to be the champion of socialism, and now here we have someone that lives there basically telling you you're high on crack, and you telling him he doesn't know how great he's got it!
Well I'm here to tell you Mr. Finland, that socialism sucks, and you have every right to complain. I'm from America and here things are pretty damned good. There is a job waiting for anyone that wants one. And a fair days wage for a fair days work. Very little price gouging, as those competition is fierce and those crooks don't last long in the business world. On weekends here in America the malls are packed with people spending money they've earned, hand over fistfulls of wadded cash for sneakers and sunglasses and cell phones and just about every luxury item you can imagine. And the people are increasingly becoming obese from the fried chicken and the McDonalds Bic Macs ... there is food everywhere here. Now some may say that is a bad thing, but I think those people have never had to go without I meal. I have been to Helsinki, and although you have a beautiful country, I wouldn't trade even the slums of East LA for Finland....

When someone jacks up the price in the off hours, and pockets some of it, that's a side effect of a highly-regulated society. They aren't starving there. The people who pull these scams just want more money. I hear it happens in all socialist countries, from Cuba to Finland.
This corruption (if you can even call it that) within a welfare state is preferable to poverty that kills.
Mehoffer, you should go live in a slum in LA for a decade, and work for $7 an hour. Give up your possessions. Maybe move out to a little town in California with a tiny local economy. And get a race-change operation so you look like a minority, so the local gang will go after you.
Maybe you'll find yourself dreaming of hawking oranges on the freeway to make an extra forty dollars a day, so you can get health insurance and a car.

And it's wrong. If you can't recognize that fact then there's something wrong with your brain.
And the reason I don't have to live in a slum and work for $7 per hour is because I pursued an education in my youth, obtained good job skills in the military, and now have a great job making good money doing what I enjoy. No one has ever given me anything in life. I have earned all that I have. And I have a lot. I'm not ashamed to say it either.
America is the land of plenty, and anyone with the desire and two brain cells to rub together can succeed in this great country.
Don't try to tell me how tough the slums of LA are ... those people are offered all the same opportunities everyone else in America is offered. I have lived in the slums of Yaounde, Cameroon and the slums of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso and the slums of many other places in this world. Those people have barriers to overcome and obstacles to hurddle way beyond their available resources.
Some poor black or hispanic child from LA slums is born with a silver spoon in it's mouth compared to those Africans. Get off your high horse.
