DEAD WRONG!

With the imminent inauguration of George W. Bush to a second term as President of the United States on the minds of millions of Americans, it’s time to call a spade a spade. Bush and his team of hapless, arrogant, neo-conservative crusaders are running ‘rough-shot’ over the world we all must share. With their bibles and crosses in one hand and the U.S. tax code in the other, they have manipulated and frightened an ill-informed, God-faring and ultimately greedy electorate into supporting their extreme ‘free-market’ designs on the world, its resources and people.
Beneath the dark veil of spreading ‘democracy’ these megalomaniacs have consolidated absolute power over the United States, its government, judiciary, and media and unleashed a brutal military machine that considers the total destruction of a nation and its people as a ‘victory’ for freedom. What total hypocrisy! Our generals and politicians call the insurgents ‘terrorists’ for defending their country from foreign invaders while we destroy entire cities and displace hundreds of thousands of people from their homes. Is chopping off the head of an innocent human in Iraq any more barbaric than dropping a 500-pound bomb on a wedding party in Afghanistan?
The total control over media coverage of the Iraq occupation is an obvious tactic adopted by the Pentagon and corporate elites to ensure Americans would never again turn against an imperial war by the sight of GI blood or the grim reality of the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi Muslims -- men, women and children. For the neo-crusaders, the Asian tsunami was PR ‘manna’ from heaven to help distract the world from their crimes against humanity. But it cannot last long as the Iraqi ‘elections’ loom over the horizon like a volley of terrorist cruise missiles scanning for their targets.
But do not believe for one second that this is only the doing of George W. Bush. It must be acknowledged that this has been a multi-generational ‘creeping coup d’etat’ with roots easily traced to the dark days of America’s self-inflicted humiliation in Vietnam. What America is experiencing today is a military take over of the United States where the generals wear suits, and the President, a bullet proof vest and a ‘wire’ so his managers can feed him lines when speaking in public. This is a corporate-military alliance with a cross on the door and Diebold tribute depository on the wall.
Shortly after the attacks of September 11th Bush declared his ‘crusade’, yet assured the world that it wouldn’t be a clash of civilizations. No clear thinking human can deny that Bush has unequivocally made his ‘war on terror’ shockingly awful. Whether by design or hubris, Bush’s living legacy of mayhem will serve to destabilize the world for decades to come. The question for the future is, how long will Americans allow this wrong to be right?
