ACT TODAY! Urge these Senators to challenge the electoral vote!

by DoItNow Thursday, Jan. 06, 2005 at 10:50 AM

As evidence of substantial electoral fraud continues to mount--and not only in Ohio--"Election 2004" is NOT over...but NOW is your last chance to urge Senators to join members of the House of Representatives in challenging the electoral vote. Time you spend phoning or faxing *TODAY* (or by Thursday morning) can make a big difference; the more Senators we reach, the better.

_______________

With Michigan's Congressman John Conyers taking the lead, a growing number of members of the House of Representatives have stated their intention to formally challenge the electoral vote--especially Ohio's, but possibly also Florida's, Nevada's, and New Mexico's--when Congress convenes in joint session this Thursday, January 6.

For their challenge to be of effect, the members of the House need at least one U. S. Senator to join them.

(If you're not up to speed on the issues, the documented evidence of possible electoral fraud, and the election-related court cases now being heard in Ohio and elsewhere, read the article excerpts below...and check out www.FreePress.org, www.VotersUnite.org, and www.VoteCobb.org for much more information.)

Last week, Congressman Conyers wrote to all 100 U. S. Senators to invite them to join him in challenging the electoral vote and investigating the many reported irregularities surrounding the Presidential election and the controversial Ohio recount.

Following are voice phone and FAX numbers for some of the key Democratic Senators and one Independent targeted in Congressman Conyers' effort.

*PLEASE* TAKE A FEW MINUTES ON WEDNESDAY AND CALL OR FAX SOME OR ALL OF THESE SENATORS.

All you need to do is URGE THE SENATORS TO FORMALLY CHALLENGE THE ELECTORAL VOTE AND INVESTIGATE THE MANY IRREGULARITIES SURROUNDING THE 2004 ELECTION.

You may want to start with Senators Boxer, Byrd, Corzine, Obama, Reid (of Nevada), and Wyden. (And if you've read and appreciated Senator Byrd's remarkable book, "Losing America," say so when you call his office.)

"Ten preliminary reasons why the Bush vote does not compute, and why Congress must investigate rather than certify the Electoral College (Part One of Two)."

By Bob Fitrakis, Steve Rosenfeld and Harvey Wasserman, The FreePress.org

(Full article is at http://www.freepress.org/departments/display/19/2005/1065 and at http://www.truthout.org/docs_05/010405J.shtml)

"By examining a very wide range of sworn testimonies from voters, polling officials and others close to the administration of the Nov. 2 election; by statistical analysis of the certified vote by mathematicians, election experts and independent research teams who have conducted detailed studies of the results in Ohio, New Mexico, Florida and elsewhere; from experts who studied the voting machines, tabulators and other electronic equipment on which a fair vote count has depended; and from a team of attorneys and others who have challenged the Ohio results; the freepress.org investigative team has compiled a portrait of an election whose true outcome must be investigated further by the Congress, the media and all Americans - because it was almost certainly not an honest victory for George W. Bush.

Crucial flaws in the national vote count, most importantly in Ohio, New Mexico and Florida, indicate John Kerry was most likely the actual winner on November 2, as reported in national exit polls. At very least, the widespread tampering with how the election was conducted, and how Ohio's votes were counted and re-counted, has compromised this nation's historic commitment to free and fair elections.

...These flaws must be thoroughly investigated before Congress ratifies the Electoral College. The legitimacy of the presidency and American Democracy is at stake."
