New Child Actor Awards Announced

A new award is added to the Hollywood award season calendar with CARE 2005 (Child Actor Recognition Event) slated for Universal Studios Hollywood in March 2005.

A new award event was added to the industry season today as the Bizparentz Foundation announced the CARE 2005 Awards, to be held on Sunday, March 13, 2005. CARE (Child Actor Recognition Event) will honor young performers for their accomplishments in 2004. The prestigious event will be held at the Globe Theater inside Universal Studios Hollywood.

“There is a huge void in recognition for these young actors,” said Paula Dorn, Co-Founder of Bizparentz. “They are rarely acknowledged in the mainstream award events. We’ve all heard the child-actor-gone-bad stories, but in reality that represents a tiny percentage of the kids. We wanted to spotlight the kids who are doing this right—the kids who are successful as working actors, but also keep up their grades, are involved in their communities and have parents who are educated about the industry.”

CARE awards will be based on a unique point system where young performers (18 and younger) must qualify with a combination of professional work in 2004, academics, union membership, training, community service, parent industry knowledge, and several other criteria. Award applications can be obtained on-line at www.bizparentz.com.

The event itself is expected to host 500 attendees, including young celebrities, their parents, agents and managers. Awardees will receive an exclusive red carpet entrance to Universal Studios (including press), private awards luncheon, engraved trophy, a fantastic awardee gift bag, collectible souvenirs, and entrance to Universal Studios Themepark for a day of kid-oriented fun after the event, along with a plethora of other perks. Tickets to the event are $100, and will be made available to awardees first, with ticket sales (if available) opening up to the public in mid-January.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Bizparentz Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to education advocacy and charitable support to parents and children engaged in the entertainment industry.

Businesses interested in sponsoring CARE 2005 may contact bizparentz@aol.com or by phone at (818) 731-9897 for a sponsorship information packet. Major sponsors are being negotiated now and will be announced in January. Event organizers continue to seek product sponsors for gift bags and other giveaways.
