BEMUSED: NEOCON-CABAL FOLLY OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY

by BEMUSED Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004 at 12:17 AM

SHOCKED N BEMUSED: MISSLE SHIELD - SPACE WEAPONS - BUNKER-BUSTER BOMBS - OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY - WHY WORRY - YOUR CHILDREN WILL PAY

SHOCKED N BEMUSED: -

NEOCON - POLITICO - MILITARY - BANK AND BUSINESS - P0WER - ELITE:

MADNESS - DRIVES POLICY TODAY - OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY -

MISSLE SHIELD SPACE WEAPONS NEW BUNKER-BUSTER NUKES - NO MORE TAXES - BORROW THE MONEY - WHY WORRY - YOUR CHILDREN WILL PAY

Hundreds of thousands: - trains, busses and cars on the roads - over bridges, via tunnels - into city centers - and containers moving thru USA ports - Tens of thousands of power plants, reservoir - water works, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, dairy and food processing plants, rail, roadway, electric and electronic transmission lines, water, oil and gas lines - subject to accident, weather or "terrorism" - likely to kill - "the innocent".

Nuke, radioactive, biological or chemical agents to fit in a suitcase, car trunk, package in the mail can be insinuated into almost any location or facility in our high tech. - complex society, and America's power elite, major news media, the press - has not yet found the inspiration and curiosity to inquire, discuss, critique, the history, actions, movements, ideologies, "games in play", that "inspire" terrorism, rebellion, "blowback", or piracy.

Current reliance on "minimizing government" except for "defense" - privatization, self regulation, (trust me baby), "market democracy", has been grand for the investment and business houses, politicians granting privilege in law (pork chops and plums in return for "support"), while the public gets pabulum, "snake-oil" - spin for "the street".

In the "second" and "third world" we may see a close collaboration (conspiracy) between the governing elite, oligarchs, and the military, to use force, intimidation, censorship, and dissembling spin, to keep "the street" as an "underclass".

The American power elite maintains an alliance of common interest with the military elite, an intimidating power, not often called upon to control or overcome initiatives of "the street" (Kent State - Washington D.C. demonstrations…) but a relationship that is maintained "in reserve".

One may speculate that the military hardware noted at the top of this page has negligible value for USA defense, albeit very costly, and likely represents a policy that is counter productive, inspiring other nations to increase their military resources for their own self defense vs the USA.

The concept of "a social contract" - has found negligible interest for many decades. Each period in our history presents different challenges. America's westward migration was one, the nineteen thirties following the "great depression" was another.

As we may choose to consider the so called "current war against terrorism", the many different challenges the people and governments of other nations face, as they move to form associations and treaties to avoid conflict and support mutual economic, social and environmental interests, I believe a diverse catalogue of domestic issues deserve analysis and much attention

The issues of federal, state and or "private" institutions or individuals having prime responsibility for particular activities, interests, and or their oversight or regulation.

Here I briefly note: education (including "pre-school with "care" to enable parents to work, college and graduate school, with the associated challenge of race, immigrants, neighborhood, mobility), health care, housing, transportation, environment, jobs (unions, wages, taxes, associated "benefits"), religious organizations, police, law (the courts, litigation…), a "marketplace of ideas"- (the press, TV, internet etc.), civil liberties, international trade, subsidies, immigration, citizenship, and USA relations and policies with other countries and international agencies…(a limited list…)

Many or most of these issues have grossly neglected, and have become somewhat meaningless as America has embarked on outrageous expensive follies, and in addition

with the perception that resources have been pre-empted for "other" critical needs.

Also and quite relevant to this discourse, slogans, bias, and so called "conventional wisdom, ideological theories out of touch with history and reality, prejudice for and against particular scenarios, - have also replaced or pre-empted the "established' venues from any serious consideration of many issues (national health care - for example)

All of the above suggest some merit to consider significant change in both the USA body politic, and the focus and practice of foreign policy - likely to take decades.

A first dramatic leap towards a better world can come with the November election, if America wakes up to the opportunity to end the reign of "King Bush " and the Neocon-Cabal.

We may hope a new administration will then seize the moment to begin a serious and comprehensive review of history, critique and analysis, from many venues at home and abroad, to open the marketplace of ideas, and find new policies for America for the new millennium.
