Can't go to New York? Get involved right here! (Santa Monica, 8/29, 2 PM, Ocean & Colorado)

LOS ANGELES
SOLIDARITY
PEACE AND JUSTICE VIGIL

The World Says NO! to the Republican Agenda

In solidarity with tens of thousands of people who are marching in New York
to protest the Republican agenda, we are gathering at:

Palisades Park / Colorado Ave
(at the cannon)
In Santa Monica
On Sunday, August 29, 2 pm - 4 pm

We will have banners and signs, and we encourage participants to use their own creativity to express their opposition to the Republican agenda. We express our support for peace and justice, for healthcare and education having priority over war and destruction, for equal rights for all, for an end to all occupations, for the rights of peoples to determine their own systems and forms of government, and for our natural environment.

Also check out the Arlington West Memorial, on the beach below and just north of the pier.  It is a moving, non-partisan display of over 900 crosses in the sand, in memory of the Iraq war dead. There are flags, plaques, and a note that a similar monument to the Iraqi dead would fill the whole beach.
