Join A Peace Vigil Near You, They Rock!

A friend of mine jokingly refers to vigils as "seances." Well, in one way they are seances. We, in the movement, have been working hard lo these past months to lift and remove from power all the zombies now taking up dead space in Washington. THE VIGIL MOVEMENT ROCKS!

The Vigil Movement in Southern California. It has been

a solid force since W's neocon regime first started rattling the sabers of war nearly two years ago. One example is the unity in purpose shown by the Neighbors For Peace & Justice communities in the San Gabriel Valley: Alhambra, Pasadena, So. Pasadena, W. Covina, Whittier and others. Over the many months of W's killing wars these groups have stood by one another through thick and thin. They have banded together when counter demonstrators have attempted to disrupt their lines (a recent example being the 100 person strong corner vigil in Alhambra), they have supported one another's forums and events, and they have partied hearty together. Mostly though, their cohesion to the central issue of removing W and his minions from office has been phenomenal. Praiseworthy also, has been these vigils' ability to temporarily set aside their sometimes contentious political viewpoints and work together in a common cause. The stakes have been way too high to behave otherwise.

Some in the LA area peace & justice community see vigils as a waste of time. Not so. Corner vigils are an ever-present reminder that something is rotten in Washington and Americans can do much, much better. Vigils, on an ongoing basis, do the crucial thing of coming face to face with Joe & Jane public at large. Vigil members put factual data into their uninformed minds, the truths which have been so egregiously ignored by the mass media, namely Fox & CNN.

Another example of unity in purpose in the vigil community was the call to action here in W. Covina on June 30 when W was to turn over sovereignty to the Iraqis. The lines here swelled fourfold as vigil activist from all over the LA basin converged on these four corners at Vincent & Lakes to protest the

fake 'handover of power' to that puppet regime. Lots of

dialog with the public took place and lots of fact sheets got distributed to passersby. Another vigil success. Face to face is the key.

A friend of mine jokingly refers to vigils as "seances." Well, in one way they are seances. We, in the movement, have been working hard lo these past months to lift and remove from power all the zombies now taking up dead space in Washington. THE VIGIL MOVEMENT ROCKS! Let's keep up the good work. Join a local corner vigil near you. Go to www.peacevigils.com to hook up with one in your neighborhood.

If it really rocked we wouldnt need somebody to explain that, it would be obvious. The WTO in Seattle now that rocked!!
