The great American peace march of 200 million has begun, with the first screenings of Fahrenheit 9/11 taking place in New York City on June 23 to sell-out crowds, 10 benefit screenings set for June 24 and opening night in the rest of the USA to be June 25, 2004.
The great American peace march of 200 million has begun, with the first screenings of Fahrenheit 9/11 taking place in New York City on June 23 to sell-out crowds, 10 benefit screenings set for June 24 and opening night in the rest of the USA to be June 25, 2004.
From http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/latestnews/index.php?id=28: "LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Director Michael Moore's controversial documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" turned on the box office heat in its first day in theaters breaking single-day records at the two New York City theaters where it played. The movie, which aims a critical eye at President Bush and his prosecution of the war in Iraq, sold $49,000 worth of tickets at the Loew's Village 7 theater, beating the venue's single-day record of $43,435 held by 1997's "Men in Black," according to distributors Lions Gate Films and IFC Films."
"At the Lincoln Plaza theater, "Fahrenheit 9/11" took in more than $30,000 to top the $24,013 set by "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" in 2000."
"A spokesman for Lions Gate Films said the company debuted the movie in the two theaters to help build good word-of-mouth -- friend telling friend -- publicity ahead of the wide debut on Friday when it plays in 868 theaters in all 50 states."
As we all go to any one of the 868 THEATERS IN ALL 50 STATES, if we see any teenagers without adults who want to see the movie, we will immediately take them under our wings as our children and escort them to see Fahrenheit 9/11 as the motion picture has given our peace movement movie an R rating, meaning under age 17 must be accompanied by an adult which is someone over 18, since it contains the same violence they see on the TV, and that violence is considered restricted in a movie! The children of today are, of course, all our children; they are the heirs of whatever political movement we bequeath to them, and for the sake of their future, it must be a strong, vibrant and victorious peace and social justice movement.

Yes, brainwash the children! It's your only hope.

Come November we'll all be singing NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA HEY HEY HEY Goodbye President Cokehead and his ilk.

Democrats need to organize. Kerry should be doing a lot better than 50% right now. He should be kicking Bush at the polls.
Kerry is hanging back too much.

Well x-cuse me for disrespecting your employer. If you had as much compassion for the troops in Iraq as you did for Hellyburton, maybe they wouldn't be over there as Cheney's saps. You spelling is indicative of your illiteracy, its your ignorance...

So you're Hellyburton's bitch I presume...
-----You "presume" nothing because the word wasn't on this week's high school vocab test.
Well x-cuse me for disrespecting your employer. If you had as much compassion for the troops in Iraq as you did for Hellyburton, maybe they wouldn't be over there as Cheney's saps.
-----I'd rather the sandnogs deliver a suitcase nuke to you in Berkeley, but to prevent that from happening in American cities of value, terrorists must be killed en masse. Sorry that appeasment doesn't work. And I praise even Allah that R's run the show. Praise Allah the adults are in charge in Washington.
You spelling is indicative of your illiteracy, its your ignorance...
------I think you've been using the computer in your high school's library for too long. You've had your sorry hippie ass handed to you a few times now. Quit while you're ahead or change your name to a number like the other fellow.
Ugly Kerry and his uglier wife don't stand a fucking chance.

Co(lum)mbine the lies and distortions of the first hogwash about guns with the lies and distortions about 9/11.

FDR's illegal, unconstitutional programs bloated the size of government, redefined government as pimp and welfare daddy and prolonged the suffering of the Great Depression.
The generation he 'saved' with this socialism is dying off, but the federal tyranny he helped create is with us to this day and stronger than ever.
Fuck socialism.

Liberal programs like the GI Bill and public works programs helped create the middle class.
There is simply no denying this. Prior to WW1, people with manufacturing jobs were living in slums, making low wages, and getting injured. Prior to WW2, conditions had improved because of increasing union power, but the global depression made many people poor.
After WW2, massive government spending helped put dollars into wallets, and from there, back into the economy. All across the nation, there are millions of small single family homes attesting to this widespread affluence.
Today, those formerly lousy manufacturing jobs are considered the "good jobs" with good wages that are being exported. Service jobs pay lousy, and unions are weak. New houses get bigger and bigger, to cater to the wealthy. Education has gotten expensive, and the idea of college, health care, and free job training is a fast fading social ideal. Maids and butlers are coming back into vogue.
And, at the same time, millions are joining the global justice movement.

Liberal programs like the GI Bill and public works programs helped create the middle class.
>>> The G.I Bill was not a 'something for nothing' handout to those who refused to work. During the Depression, 25% unemployment could be interpreted as a 'national emergency.' But there's also a counterargument that FDR's follies prolonged the Depression. There is simply no denying this. Prior to WW1, people with manufacturing jobs were living in slums, making low wages, and getting injured. Prior to WW2, conditions had improved because of increasing union power, but the global depression made many people poor.
>>> It was the increase of wealth (profits) from growing industries that increased the standard of living for the worker, not the redistribution of wealth at gunpoint.
After WW2, massive government spending helped put dollars into wallets, and from there, back into the economy.
>>> Well now it's taking dollars from wallets, and shoveling them into a federal furnace, to the tune of 40%. Meanwhile, people, when polled, think the government should take no more than 25%.
And, at the same time, millions are joining the global justice movement.
>>> The fact that these "global" movements never produce an impressive economy or high standard of living where put into effect is proof enough to steer clear of socialism.
>>> People are smarter than committees.

Most Presidents are either all bad (Clinton) or all good (Reagan, Bush).
FDR was in the middle - part good, very good, and part bad, very bad.
His handling of the war effort in WWII was superb. He listened to Churchill and he did a fine job. I'd rank him right up there with Abe Lincoln and GW Bush when it comes to crisis management.
However, his ranking on the social side was near the bottom. There he ranks with LBJ as one of the worst Presidents ever.

The same wealth redistribution was done in Ancient Rome. The rich were taxed at 12 times the rate of the poor and a civil war was averted.
FDR was still full of shit, tho, a richie posing as a common man.
Bless FDR's good works and curse his errors. It's more credit than any liberal will give Reagan.
