The numbers are staggering. As an Israeli, I am shocked at 4,000 Palestinian deaths in three and a half years. As a human being, I am appalled at the millions who have died in Sudan. In civil wars raging for over ten years at least two million Sudanese have died. In Durban alone an estimated 100,000 are expected to have died from the latest incursions.

The victims are dark skinned Muslims, the perpetrators are Arab nomads, the scale of damage is genocide, slavery, destruction of Sudan's farmland, food sources, and creation of famines the likes of which drought alone could not produce.

It's not a wonder that Arab states would like to keep you focussed on the four thousand Palestinians, because what Arabs are doing in Sudan could bring a world war upon them. But just as the world turned it's head at the genocide of Armenians and Jews, African Muslims will be a long time waiting for us to storm their beaches.

There is no religious conflict, this genocide is purely racial in nature, Sudan is mostly Muslim, and the insurgents have made it a point to spare no black Imam or black owned Koran. Desecrating the Koran is sacriledge, something you won't dare to find an Israeli soldier doing, however, no fatwah or jihad has been launched against these defiling armies. Rape of women, torture, all of these things are happening on a level that makes Abu Grhaib look like Disneyland.

What amazes me is that no one from the left has spoken of or taken up this cause. So far, the only people giving this issue a voice are Jewish genocide watch groups. However, NPR has finally begun to cover the issue, although at this point, a genocide on this scale is already far beyond what anyone should ever feel comfortable with. We must pressure Arab states to put just as much pressure on the Arab run Sudanese government as they do on Israelis. This is not to detract from the conflict of Israel, but simply to give balance and relative scale to all issues. If we cannot stop this huge genocide, we cannot start peace anywhere in the Middle East. And furthermore, if we were able to save people during WWII, we have no excuse not to save these people now.

So, what do you want the US to do about it?

If we invade these corrupt shitholes, we're "imperialists" but if we MYOB we're accused of "doing nothing."

Well, fuck 'em.
