The Mission of the BuckFush Collective is to inspire and ignite resistance in all Southern Californians opposed to the madness of the Bush administration, whose psychotic obsession with global domination will inevitably lead to worldwide chaos.
America’s insane, eternal war on terrorism, coupled with unbridled corporate exploitation of the Earth and all its inhabitants, is intolerable and will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Progressives, and other people of goodwill, know in their hearts, that the Bush regime’s imperialistic militarism, callous anti-environmentalism and dehumanizing consumerism will surely lead to continuing social and economic upheaval around the planet.
Bush and the neo-conservatives must be defeated. We are rising up and taking a stand for positive change. A collective expression of unity, opposing war and affirming life, will be made June 5th, 2004, throughout the Southland. Our unwavering commitment to liberty, peace, justice, sustainability, equality and truth will be confirmed. Southern California’s uncontrolled voice for peace and freedom will resonate around the world. Bush and the neo-conservatives will be defeated!
fragmenting the movement will not create change! we need to come together as one unit against this administration. Put your egos aside for a moment and check your hearts -- unity is power!
yeah, like remember when we came together (millions of us) and marched together in the streets and stopped the wars on afghanistan and iraq!!!
we have to recognize that a large protest means nothing if we don't reach out beyond the protest. a protest is a parade but the only people watching are the "participants". buckfushjune5.org and similar distributed actions give us an opportunity to bring the parade to the spectators. it also gives us a chance to network with people in our area. large protests bring people from all around to march. if we talk to each other we find that we all have one thing in common -- a desire for change. at distributed events we have (at least) two things in common -- desire for change and neighborhood. this gives us an opportunity for community building and REAL grassroots organizing.
i'm on the moveon.org list -- it's a great fundraising organization but i release a deep sigh every time i get an email like "TELL ASHCROFT IT'S TIME TO RETIRE." sure, ashcroft needs to retire but we need to TELL OUR NEIGHBORS that ashcroft needs to retire. ashcroft has his freaky no dancing, no naked art, gospel music only God telling him to stay put. it's going to take local organizing to vote for something better.
