Havana.-
Two big dangers are hovering over Latin America: the US is assuming the right to interfere in other nations´ affairs and the project of Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), Mexican Cuauhtemoc Cardenas said in Havana. President of the Mexican party "Fundacion para la Democracia" (Foundation for Democracy), Cuauhtemoc Cardenas, said in a speech at the University of Havana that US is defending its economic, military and political hegemony not only over Latin America but also the whole world. Powerful nations are deciding nowadays which countries are not aligned with the way they assumed as the right one. They believe to have the right to interfere in any government´s affairs, imposing laws by force, Cardenas said. Cuba, Mexico, Latin America and other countries of the world have been victims and have painful experiences of military, economic and political intervention of superpowers, the Mexican leader added. The Mexican visitor hopes the Mexican representatives at the UN Human Rights Commission maintain Mexico´s traditional policy of non-intervention and respect to self-determination and do not support a vote to condemn Cuba.
