Did you know that the amount earned in a minimum wage job in one year amounts to a measly $10,600, and the amount that a family of 3 needs to live for a year adds up to more than $30,000?

Recently NY Jobs with Justice, and the NY Unemployment Project held a packed community forum to call on Republican N.Y. State Senator Olga Mendez to support a raise in the minimum wage! Senator Mendez was invited to speak along

with community and labor organizers and minimum wage workers. When she didn’t show up...

they marched to her house on Fifth Avenue to protest!

So what? Do the math.

If your stat is correct than it means that a single person needs $10,000 to live on a year. So minimum wage will actually yield extra money.

Bottom line is that if you can't afford to provide for a family...DON'T HAVE ONE!
