The first annual Youth Take Action Conference spans two days and met at the MAAC Community Charter SChool in Chula Vista. Workshops varied from expressing racial indentity in schools to publishing independent news.
"I want to gather techniques and learn about issues that I can apply to my own community and issues that I care about," says Minna Abassi, a junior at Helix who is active in GLSEN. She is one of students that came from various economic and racial backgrounds to take part in the event.
Along with the enterainment and a free lunch, the conference offered a positive environment for a young, budding activist.
